I saw this on the message board on the Examiner website - is it true - you decide........

"......Breaking News: I have just been out for lunch to Weavers Shed in Golcar and Darren Huckerby was there having lunch with Peter and other club officials. Darren has a medical first thing in the morning. At last we have a goal scoring king!......."

Probably a load of rubbish but who knows.

Some surprising news.....

Jacko - I'm innocent!

I thought I'd heard the last of this to be honest. He'll be cleared, this is all a complete waste of time.

Here's a thread I have started on 606...

JulieLovesJacko on Crewe v Huddersfield

Boothy - Key Man For Saturday???

Well, its 3 days to go before our televised fixture at Crewe. Not surprisingly theres a bit more than 3 points at stake for me!!! I know plently of Alex fans who will be laughing in my face if we lose on Saturday (like they did last time we played Crewe - and lost)!. But to me thats part and parcel of being a Terrier in South Cheshire!! But I am really looking forward and so is little Luke (so my sister keeps telling me)!

I strongly suspect that we will stick with the 'direct football' approach, because Crewe are known for the 'passing game', and I reckon that a few 'long-balls' may unsettle their defence. I think the bet will have to be a couple of quid on Boothy to score first.

Also, on a different subject, tomorrow the 'Transfer Window' closes. Now what disconcerts me is that firstly we haven't been officially linked with anyone recently, and secondly I've not heard so much as a single roumer about anyone we might be signing!! WE NEED A MIDFIELDER!!! It was in the Daily Mirror today that Crewe have been linked with Paul Ince - WHY AREN'T WE LINKED WITH PLAYERS LIKE THAT!!! What do we have to do to get someone like that - it's so frustrating. If we were the Huddersfield Giants mind, well we probably would. No prizes for guessing where Mr Davy would rather spend his money.

Huddersfield Town 1-1 Nottingham Forest

Now I'm usually the last person to say anything against Jacko (especially when he's looking as hot as he did today - sorry - I'm off again), but even I seriously SERIOUSLY have to question the wisdom (if thats the word) of his tactics (if thats what you call them) today.

When he watched Forest lose to Accrington on Monday night, he must have somehow deduced that we would cause them problems in the air - wrong!!! I was seriously disappointed that he dropped Pav and started with Boothy - I knew we would become Long Ball FC. Jacko failed to take into account that both Forests centre halves were just as tall as Boothy, so the result was that he never won one header in the first half. We were going nowhere.

Forest scored midway through the first half with the only move they really had - a Grant Holt toe-poke from a yard out after Matt Glennon failed to hold onto a shot. It was a nothing goal in all honesty. Forest never really created much up front at all.

Second half we improved (although still playing 'direct football'), by the 60th minute we were screaming for Pav to come on so we could start playing to feet. Jacko eventually brought him on - but in place of Luke Beckett!!!!!!! You should've heard the booing - I'm not surprised - sometimes I look down at Jacko and I wonder '....what are you thinking of doing that - more ammo to the Sack Jacko brigade, I despair...' and that was one of those moments for me. But, almost immediately the decision worked the oracle. Danny Schofield had a shot deflected onto the bar, and Fletch headed home the rebound. The Great Escape you could call it, because if we had lost today, particularly playing this way, I would have been well upset and no mistake.

All in all we were well worth a point today to be honest going on our second half performance, but I hope PJ realises that Boothy should be used as a luxury item - coming off the bench with 10 or 20 minutes to go would be perfect - and not for 90 minutes. We play much better when the ball goes to feet, although I don't expect any change for the Crewe match next week, only in so much as Crewe play to feet and they will DEFINATELY struggle in the air.

An away match on my own doorstep - bring it on!!!!!!!!

we are now 7th and unbeaten in 4 games.

My taxi to the railway station will be here shortly, I am so looking forward to today. I am quietly confident we can get 3 points today (mind you I thought we'd win easily Tuesday night, what do I know).

It won't be easy, any mistakes will be harshly punished and no mistake. As we always seem to raise our game against the so called 'bigger' clubs I expect us to play well.

Town to win 2-0 or 2-1 (fingers crossed).

Today is my day off. The sun is shining, my bad mood of yesterday has lifted and I'm looking forward to Saturday with a vengence.

'TOWN SIGN THREE QUALITY MIDFIELDERS'
..... is the headline I was hoping to see this morning, but surprise surprise no!! Town's website is hopeless. Nothing has been updated since Tuesday night.

As for Saturday, I'm confident we can bounce back. Show Forest who's boss and get three points. We always seem to raise our game against better sides and I expect Saturday to be no different. Here's hoping for a 2-0 win to Huddersfield (Luke Beckett to score both).

Bet of the day - get on Jacko to say '...this is a massive game for us....' at least 3 times before Saturdays match !! (Just my little joke xx).

Huddersfield Town 0-2 Mansfield Town

Not the outcome I was expecting, but from what I heard we deserved all we got. They were more up for it and we just didn't play. Nottingham Forest must be rubbing their hands with glee. ok, we may have been unlucky for their second goal (it was offside), but we still would've lost anyway.

Here's Jacko's thoughts:

Jacko's Aftermatch Report

Well, we must put this poor display and result behind us and concentrate on Saturday.

Carling Cup action tonight as Town take on Mansfield from League Two. Should be an easy one (fingers crossed), but seeing as Forest were put out by Accrington Stanley last night anything can happen. We are really short odds (8/15) to win in 90 minutes. Think it'll be a 3-0 win to Town.

I saw on Teletext last night that Worthy might not play because of a hernia - good grief, who the hell are we going to have in midfield - at this rate we will be playing 4-2-4 formation, we'll only have Mark Hudson and Danny Schofield in the middle!!! Hopefully it won't come to that.

I'm night racing tonight, but I hope to be home in time to listen to the second half.

The things I have to put up with.

When I got home from work last night, my hubby says to me "... your lot were lucky, scoring right at the end like that...". I said "... well, we might be grateful for a point at the end of the season...".

To which he replied "... particularly if you need a point to stay up...".

I ask you!!!

Sam's a Manchester United supporter so he should know all about Fergie time, sorry, injury time!!!!

Brentford 2- 2 Huddersfield Town
It has to be said I am not at my best in work when its a Saturday afternoon when Town are playing. My nerves are in tatters - and after today no wonder!!!!! I was convinced we had lost - until Super Luke Beckett scored in the 93rd minute.
Danny Schofield played instead of Chris Brandon, and Boothy came on at half-time (think Fletch might be injured).
Town went behind in the second half - but not for long - Danny Schofield scored 2 minutes after Brentford took the lead. But when Brentford went in front in the 89th minute I was in despair (I knocked a pile of bets over, not for the first time), but as all the other matches were finishing, I knew we were still playing (I have the Sky Soccer Centre up on the firms computer). Cue mass relief when I see 2-2 flash up on the screen.
After the formality of putting Mansfield out of the League Cup on Tuesday (I hope...), bring on Nottingham Forest (unbeaten, 12 points out of 12) to fortress Galpharm......... and I will be there - can't wait!!

More good news........

Gary Taylor-Fletcher signs new deal

I'm really pleased about this. He is an excellent player. And I'm loving the bit at the end of that report where Jacko says '....I want to build a side which will serve the club for years to come...'. That really made me smile.

Oh, and more news.........

Martin McIntosh goes out on loan

Bit disappointed actually. He may be older than me, but he's still a quality centre half. I remember the goal he scored in the Swansea match that was on Sky last season. Brilliant header of the ball.

As for tomorrow and the Brentford game, I think it'll be tight, but I think we can just shade it either 1-0 or 2-1. COME ON TOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good news....

David Mirfin signs new deal

......and not so good news

Chris Brandon injured in training

Tuesday, August 15, 2006

Just ordered my tickets for the Crewe game. I'm taking my 9 year old nephew Luke with me again, he's been pestering my sister non-stop since the Chester match '.....when will Auntie Ju take me the football again...'. I have told my sister to tell him that this time it will be a heck of a lot busier, with more people about, and this time we will have a seat so he won't be able to wander about like he did at the Deva Stadium!!

I have also rather cheekilly asked for Saturday 26th August off so I can attend the Forest game (told my boss that I wouldn't have the car that day - I'm going to tell him my Hubby needs it for something if they ask). The bosses know I support Town, but it doesn't do for them to know I go to the matches when I have a Saturday off. They are likely to clamp down if it looks like I'm having too many Saturdays off (of course Saturdays are our busiest days bar none), so i try to book them off discreetly. There are a few nosey members of staff who also notice if the same staff have a lot of Saturdays off, so as I say discretion is all important.

I haven't heard back from the bosses yet, so I'm hopeful to be there a week on Saturday!!

COME ON TOWN!!!

I read three different reports of Saturdays match. One on Sunday, two on Monday. The two I read yesterday completely contradicted each other!!! The Daily Mirror reported that Jacko was facing possible FA disciplinary action and a touchline ban because of 'that' incident, The Daily Star on the otherhand quotes Jacko as saying '...I wasn't sent off, I was told by the referee to sit in the stands and cool off. He told me he won't even mention it in his report.'

I know who I believe.

It was fairly obvious that Jacko wasn't red-carded, because the coaching staff wouldn't have been allowed to go up to him in the stand to speak to him (which they did on more than one occasion).

The funniest thing for me was on Sunday night when we were at our local social club, Football League Review was on Sky Sports and they were showing this at the club. Everyone by now had heard about what had gone on on Saturday by me, so that when Town's goals (and Jacko's scrap) were on there was about 12 people glued to the telly (they're nearly all die-hard Crewe fans in there by the way)!!!!!

Huddersfield Town 2 - 1 Bristol City

In the words of the song '...oh its such a perfect day....". My trains all ran on time, the weather stayed dry, if a bit cool, and Town won!!!!!!!!!!

I took my seat in the Lawrence Batley Lower and waited in anticipation for the game.

First half was nearly all Town. We had loads of possession, without creating too many chances, but I didn't think we were troubled by Bristol at all. I thought they were quite a poor side to be honest.

Imagine my dismay when 2 minutes into the second half we went behind. A bit of pinball around the 6 yard area ended with their striker Jeavons putting a low shot past Matt Glennon. They didn't deserve to be in front at all. 20 minutes later, after a great passing move (booed by some people, I don't know why) Luke Beckett drilled a low shot past the keeper to make it 1 apiece (hooray).

Then a moment of high drama unfolded not far from where I was sitting, so I had a ringiside seat - the ball went out for a throw (it was my opinion at the time it was a Bristol throw, but that was by the by) - the referee signals it was a throw to Town - fine by me - Jacko picks the ball up, cue one of the Bristol players try and wrestle it off him (and I mean wrestle). Jacko gets the guy by the throat (I'm on my feet bellowing at the Bristol player '...get your hands off my fella you moron or I'll F****** kill you....' (heat of the moment stuff you understand......)!), the referee and the fourth official are getting between them, Jacko is being restrained by a member of the coaching staff and the fourth official, 7 Town players surrounding the Bristol thug, sorry player (oops) all hell breaking loose.

Trust the ref to get it all wrong by sending Jacko to the stand (he ended up sitting on the same row as me, albeit 13 or 14 seats away). Scandolous decision baring in mind it wasn't him who started it.

Luckilly for us justice was served in the last minute of the game when Pav slotted tihe ball cooly under the diving keeper - fantastic, and no more than we deserved - truly wonderful.

Thought Pav was magnificent yesterday, he was man of the match for sure. He's playing with some real fire in his belly at the moment and things are looking real good.

If Bristol City are supposed to be one of the better sides in League One then good. We were far better than them and if we can repeat these performances we are going to take some beating and no mistake.

On the plus side (for me) I have yet another winning bet to pick up from Ladbrokes. Picked up 30 odd quid after the Rotherham match (£10 Town @ 4/7 and £2 on 3-0 @ 10-1), and have now got another 40 quid to go with it (£10 Town @ 5-4 and £2.50 on 2-1 @ 7-1), and I won £15 quid at Bingo later on as well.

As I said, a perfect day.

Stuck in work all day today, and I'm night racing as well (bah), but if I keep thinking of tomorrow it might just make the time go a bit quicker.

Gary Taylor-Fletcher (pictured above) is getting a presentation before tomorrow game for scoring 'that' goal on Tuesday, so that is something to look forward to also.

It won't be easy tomorrow, Bristol City are a far better team than Rotherham, but I'm hopeful that we can build from Tuesdays result and keep going. I reckon we will win either 2-1 or 3-1.

Huddersfield Town 3 - 0 Rotherham

An excellent result, made even better by the fact that Fletch's goal (the third) is the 500,000 goal in Football League history. I read something about this milestone being close, never dreamed it would be us!!! Brilliant.

Luke Beckett got off the mark with a penalty (I'm still convinced he'll be the top scorer in League One this season), Pav got the second just before half time and Fletch scored in the 75th minute.

I know we only beat lowly Rotherham (-10 points because of being in admin), but its nice to get some points on the board, oh and a clean sheet to go with it.

We are now 7th in League One.

Tuesday, August 8, 2006

Playing Rotherham at home tonight. Come on lads, a nice easy win if you don't mind!!! I will be tuning in to the commontary on the radio (via the internet of course).

Boothy is our only injury doubt, I'm sure Jacko will play Pav if necessary.

Gilllingham 2 - 1 Huddersfield Town

A bit disappointing to say the least. Sounds like the defence had a bit of a nightmare. According to what I've heard we played ok first half, but second half we fell to pieces. Jacko says "... I don't know what happened defensively...". Well, if he doesn't know what hope have we got!!! Even Teletext described Fletch's 80th minute goal as a "...consolation..." even though Jacko has been quoted as saying "...we nearly got something out of it near the end...".

Mind you, I'm not overly concerned. We lost on the opening day last season so no need to panic.

We are playing Rotherham on Tuesday night and I fully expect 3 points, then its onto Saturday when we are playing Bristol City (I'll be there, can't wait). If we can get 6 points we will be back in contention in no time.

Julie's Season's Eve Summary

As always, I look forward to the new season. Everyone starts with a clean slate. I am always confident we will do well.

Close Season

Since we lost in the playoffs, transfer activity has been thin on the ground, but I am convinced we definately got the best signing of the lot in Luke Beckett. I remember when he played for us the last time, and if him and Boothy can link up well again its going to rain goals this season. From what I saw of Matt Glennon against Chester he seemed sound enough. I think he'll be in goal tomorrow.

In Conclusion

If we can stay steady at the back (if Nathan Clarke has a good season he'll be off to somewhere bigger make no mistake), and should our midfield create enough chances (because we have the best forward line in the division bar none) then we could well be the team to beat. If we can make the Galpharm our fortress, as we did for the vast majority of the season, and we can nick wins away then I see no reason why we won't be challenging for promotion again. We've improved every season since Jacko returned, and I fully expect the improvement to continue. (God, I hope these words don't come back to haunt me.......)

Main Challengers

Our main rivals are going to be the usual suspects - Swansea, Nottm Forest, Bristol City - but there could be a suprise or two in store (look at Southend and Colchester last season). I don't see a whole lot to worry me though.

Here's Jacko's thoughts......

Jacko on the New Season
