Huddersfield Town 2 - 1 Bristol City
In the words of the song '...oh its such a perfect day....". My trains all ran on time, the weather stayed dry, if a bit cool, and Town won!!!!!!!!!!
I took my seat in the Lawrence Batley Lower and waited in anticipation for the game.
First half was nearly all Town. We had loads of possession, without creating too many chances, but I didn't think we were troubled by Bristol at all. I thought they were quite a poor side to be honest.
Imagine my dismay when 2 minutes into the second half we went behind. A bit of pinball around the 6 yard area ended with their striker Jeavons putting a low shot past Matt Glennon. They didn't deserve to be in front at all. 20 minutes later, after a great passing move (booed by some people, I don't know why) Luke Beckett drilled a low shot past the keeper to make it 1 apiece (hooray).
Then a moment of high drama unfolded not far from where I was sitting, so I had a ringiside seat - the ball went out for a throw (it was my opinion at the time it was a Bristol throw, but that was by the by) - the referee signals it was a throw to Town - fine by me - Jacko picks the ball up, cue one of the Bristol players try and wrestle it off him (and I mean wrestle). Jacko gets the guy by the throat (I'm on my feet bellowing at the Bristol player '...get your hands off my fella you moron or I'll F****** kill you....' (heat of the moment stuff you understand......)!), the referee and the fourth official are getting between them, Jacko is being restrained by a member of the coaching staff and the fourth official, 7 Town players surrounding the Bristol thug, sorry player (oops) all hell breaking loose.
Trust the ref to get it all wrong by sending Jacko to the stand (he ended up sitting on the same row as me, albeit 13 or 14 seats away). Scandolous decision baring in mind it wasn't him who started it.
Luckilly for us justice was served in the last minute of the game when Pav slotted tihe ball cooly under the diving keeper - fantastic, and no more than we deserved - truly wonderful.
Thought Pav was magnificent yesterday, he was man of the match for sure. He's playing with some real fire in his belly at the moment and things are looking real good.
If Bristol City are supposed to be one of the better sides in League One then good. We were far better than them and if we can repeat these performances we are going to take some beating and no mistake.
On the plus side (for me) I have yet another winning bet to pick up from Ladbrokes. Picked up 30 odd quid after the Rotherham match (£10 Town @ 4/7 and £2 on 3-0 @ 10-1), and have now got another 40 quid to go with it (£10 Town @ 5-4 and £2.50 on 2-1 @ 7-1), and I won £15 quid at Bingo later on as well.
As I said, a perfect day.
