Half way point of the season, and if I'm honest I didn't expect us to be in 17th at this stage.
Town cemented their position as "...most boring team in League 1...", with negative tactics continuing to be employed in this dour encounter (where will the improvement come from). Another 4-1-4-1 day, and I'm wondering whether a nil-nil draw is what we deliberately played for? An "...If they don't score we can't lose..." mentality if you will.
I think this game was probably summed up by the fact that, according to the BBC Minute-byMinute service, the Chesterfield crosses / corners were cleared by Boothy a lot of the time (if he was back defending then who the hell was up front). Jacko gets his "...Saltergate Shut Out...".
Boothy had a goal disallowed for a foul in the 66th minute, but that was as near as we got to scoring - chances were few and far between by the look of things. We did switch to 4-4-2 after 70 minutes (Pav made his return) so maybe we were going for it near the end, but a goal-less draw it remained. I think the clean sheet will be the only thing this game will be remembered for.
Jacko on Chesterfield v Huddersfield (Written)
I'm guessing that maybe out of the four games we have got over the festive season / new year (including yesterday) that maybe Jacko would be happy with, say, 7 points - well we have one so far. Lets hope for returns from both of our two home matches this week, and maybe the second half of the season will be a bit more successful than the first.
