Huddersfield Town 2-2 Tranmere Rovers

A repeat of the scoreline from Prenton Park back in September. An excellent performance by Town which almost ended in all three points (blast you Mark Hudson).

Town started with the usual 4-1-4-1 formation (Jacko only made one change - Jon Worthington came in for Mark Hudson (not before time that that useless article was benched)), and we took the lead in the ninth minute when Boothy volleyed in a beauty from twenty yards, coming off the underside of the bar before hitting the back of the net.

Tranmere got back on terms when Chris Greenacre (yes, him again - why does he have this habit of scoring against us all the time) headed in from a Chris Shuker corner, and it was 1-1 at half time.

Then Town did what they seem to do best - conceding a goal in the first 10 minutes after half time - when Greenacre got his second of the game, this time a close range shot after a set-piece.

Town were not to be denied though. Some nice play between Chris Brandon and Danny Schofield saw the former fouled in the penalty area and the latter putting away the resultant spot kick.

Town went to 2 up front when Jacko brought on Pawel Abbott, and made a further substitution bringing on Mark Hudson in place of Chris Brandon (who had an excellent game by all accounts, but may now be, I fear, injured). Right at the death Town had two glorious chances, and had they fallen to anyone else and not Hudson I would have been talking about a Town victory here - one shot straight at the keeper, and an even easier chance blazed over the bar after the keeper fumbled a cross. Two more points dropped again, but maybe not the worst result. Tranmere have been a top-6 side nearly all season.

I was stuck in work today (8 race meetings), working alongside a Birkenhead lass!!! She actually supports ManchesterUnited, but likes to see Tranmere do well - we both managed to remain on our very best behaviour as the match fluctuated one way and the other - I tried not to get too excited when Town were in front, and she only let the merest trace of a wry smile slip when Tranmere led.

Well, so I missed a 4 goal thriller today, you watch me having to sit through a nil-nil draw when I roll up on Saturday!!! Hopefully not - it is only a matter of time before we hit winning ways - lets hope we can complete a double over Swansea. COME ON TOWN!!!!
