Well, its a nice sunny day here in Crewe - and I have a train to catch!!!!

(Julie 1-0 Sam if you like, although, and I quote, "...you must want your bloody head reading travelling over for that, your season is finished - go shopping if you feel the need to squander 40 odd quid, you must be f****** mental going to watch that lot...").

Heres to 3 points!

Nathan and Tom Clarke sign new contracts.

Clarke Brothers Pen New Deals

I think it is a good move. I do rate both of them, although Nathans form was a little disappointing this season. They have been blighted by injury of course, but once that is out of the way I expect both to figure prominently next season, and I fully expect that in the future they will both play at a higher level (would be nice if that was with Town of course)!

Tomorrow Town are in home action against Port Vale - and I am supposed to be travelling over - but I have hit a snag, and a big one at that - my husband is not keen for me to be going to a game which is, in his words "...two mid table teams playing for nothing, why bother...". He seems to think that the £40 quid I shell out on my visits to the Galpharm would be better spent elsewhere "...your season is finished, you're playing for nothing, stay at home and listen instead, save your money..".

I am working on this, I still intend to go as we speak - I am confident I can talk him round - we shall see.......

The field in the "...New Manager Stakes..." is down to five.....

Kevin Blackwell Is New Luton Boss

Signed a four year contract with them today (didn't they only sack Mike Newell last week, how come its taken them 5 minutes to get sorted, but us weeks?), so strike him off our list.

No further concrete roumers, only a whisper that the shortlist may be down to two names - which two we can only speculate, so it is going to be next week at the very earliest before we know any more.

Next Town Manager???

While we were out last night I sounded out a few non-Town supporting friends, and gave them the names who are supposedly the shortlist for the managers job - only one name kept cropping up though as, in their opinion - "...the best one..." - ......... Gary Megson.

Even my husband (who of course has no interest in Town matters) was in full agreement. Cited his record at West Brom as "...all you should be looking for if you want to go up the leagues...", that of all the names on the list ("... John what did you say his name was ..."( lmao)), only Gary Megson had the "...perfect credentials...", and that "...your lot would be mad to look any further than him...".

Only a random Leeds fan said that Blackwell would do alright for us, although he did describe him as a "...mouth in a suit, bit like your old guv'nor..." - ok, then........

Saturday, March 24, 2007

Andrew Watson says we are getting a little nearer to finding a new manager.

Watson - Shortlist of Six

Presumably we are talking about the following......

Adams, Blackwell, Dungworth, Ritchie, Megson and Parkinson?? Would be a major surprise if it was anyone else. I'll stick with the ones I flagged up as my preferred candidates - Kevin Blackwell, Micky Adams or Phil Parkinson.

Brighton & Hove Albion 0-0 Huddersfield Town

Gerry Murphys unbeaten run stretches to three with this rather uninspiring goalless draw. Town went the nearest in the first half, good efforts from Luke Beckett (saved at his feet), Danny Schofield (over the bar) and Gary Taylor-Fletcher (dipped over the bar), but we couldn't find a way through.

Brighton appeared a little brighter after the break, but Matty Glennon all in all had a very quiet afternoon between the sticks. Towns cause wasn't helped by some over zealous refereeing - the man in black hell-bent in cementing Towns reputation as the yellow-card kings, as half of the bookings we had appeared unwarranted. A second yellow for Frank Sinclair (the first harsh, the second deserved) saw the big man sent off, and Town had to play with ten men for the last quarter of the game.

Now, three weeks ago you would not have dreamed that this would happen - both Martin McIntosh and Mark Hudson, plus Adnan Ahmed for good measure, all ended up playing a part in this match. Well, with a new manager on the horizon they will want to get as much playing time in as possible in order to impress whoever it will be. Clearly JD and GM think more of them than Jacko did at the end of his reign.

A stalemate it stayed though, and Town will be further worried with injuries picked up by Andy Holdsworth and GTF.

Gerry Murphy on Brighton v Town (written)

****

Heard on the radio prior to the game that the interviews have already started, with Andy Ritchie and Kevin Blackwell already spoken to, and further discussions to take place on Tuesday.

Half Time - Brighton 0-0 Town

Town definitely having the best of this, Luke Beckett, Danny Schofield and GTF have all gone close (excellent shot from him just before the break). Both Paul Ogden and Mel Booth think this game is here for the taking. So far, so good.

Its a lovely spring morning here in Crewe - sunny, fairly warm - the sort of day I wish I was heading to a match - not to be obviously. I am off today, and likewise next Saturday when I will DEFINITELY be in attendance. I'm home alone as well as Sam is working until 1/2 6 and my step-son is away working in London.

I hope Town put in a good performance today and don't ruin my day!! I'm quietly confident we will get three points - fingers crossed!

Heard Luke Beckett talk on Radio Leeds last night, he still thinks that Town aren't safe yet (which worries me), thought that if he had started more matches he would have scored at least 20 goals (something I am inclined to agree with - 4-1-4-1?? what was that about), and that the lads feel bad at letting PJ down, and letting themselves down this season, and that Jacko had done a good job seeing as where we were when he came back, but that we all had to move on. He then went on to remark that we were too big to be in League One, that we should be a Championship club. Good to hear him say that, maybe if he is given a good run he will get the goals he thinks he's capable of.

Friday, March 23, 2007

Town take their threadbare squad down to Brighton - lets hope it is a nice day by the seaside for one and all. Gerry Murphy is confident.

Gerry Murphy on Brighton v Town

He mentions about the reasons for Brando going to Blackpool - GM reckoning we have plenty of cover in midfield - WHAT???? decent quality cover..... I think not.... - He does go on to further mention, if you notice, that neither Chrissie B or Rabs will be able to play on Easter Monday.

No news on the new manager front - not even a whiff of a decent roumer. Hasn't someone had the foresight to hide outside the Galpharm, or stand at the bottom of Stadium Way just to see who turns up!!

I have a horrible feeling we may end up promoting JD - please tell me I'm wrong, it would be a disgrace if he was allowed to get the job, on merit or otherwise - to that end no way should Jacko have been sacked - I will shout that from the rooftops - and as I have stated before, my travelling over will be a lot more selective next season. We will not progress - top 30 - you're having a laugh.

More bad news (in my opinion) .........

Paul Hayes Returns To Barnsley

Shame that. I gather he got injured yesterday so wouldn't have been playing Saturday anyway, but I'm still disappointed. But is his contract up at Barnsley at the end of the season??? I would like to think the "...new man..." might decide to bring him back as I reckon he's a very decent player.

My latest 606 article about Chris Brandon is getting mixed reviews - but glad to see that most of the replies are with me on this one.

JLJ - Chris Brandon Goes To Blackpool

We still have Hudson and Ahmed at Town while farming Brando out on loan - why??? Its a crazy decision - he's 10000% better than either of them - its baffling (no-one wants the other two obviously). Who makes these decisions any way - Gerry Murphy or John Dungworth ??
I am told , by the way, that while Rabs can (and most likely will) play against Town in a couple of weeks time, it would be unlikely that Chrissie would be considered. Glad about that.

From The Examiner....

Murphy - Good Chance For Brandon

Wednesday, March 21, 2007

Its been a month of disappointing news for me - even more reaches me today.

Chris Brandon in Blackpool Loan Deal

He's my favourite player, no use denying it. I'm gutted - no Jacko and now no Brando when I visit next a week on Saturday **groan**.

(I trust under the terms of this agreement he will not be turning out for the opposition on Easter Monday, and the same goes for Rabs I assume).

Martyn Booty talks about last Saturdays goal-that-shouldn't-have-been, and life after Jacko.

I remember when Martyn played for Crewe, and he is a very likeable guy - I hope he keeps his job when the new regieme is in place.

And we may have a new manager in less than a months time, according to Andrew Watson.

Watson - 30 Quality Applicants

As I have said before, the board cannot get afford to get this one wrong - after all, several thousand season tickets are riding on the outcome...........

Carlisle United 1-1 Huddersfield Town

I said a point would be a good return from this game, but it was so nearly all three!!

It wasn't the greatest game ever seen by all accounts, with the weather being blustery and the rain lashing down, but Town managed to take a deserved lead when Luke Beckett headed home Andy Taylors cross in the 26th minute. Carlisle equalised in injury time at the end of the first half - Joe Garner bundling home when Matty Glennon spilled the ball, and although the linesman appeared to rule the goal out for a foul on the Town stopper the referee decided the goal should stand.

Second half Town and Carlisle both had chances, but with conditions deteriorating neither side could find a way through - Carlisle going nearest though right at the end when Joe Garner was through one on one with Matt Glennon - he went down trying to get a penalty, but the referee said the Carlisle player dived, and he was sent off for a second yellow card.

Gerry Murphy on Carlisle v Town (written)

A good point I think, a tricky place to go to is Carlisle and I am pleased with this result.

It was murder trying to follow it at work - we all had an e-mail earlier in the week that ALL extraneous websites were not to be used at the workstations - even Bet 365s website was only to be used for "...business purposes....", and the browser to be closed immediately after use. Was caught by a supervisor while trying to access Livescore "...can you close that page, ta...", it is that strict!!!

Today Town take on Carlisle, and they will be a far, far more difficult proposition than what we had to face last weekend!!! I would consider a point today to be a good result, but who knows? 3 more points - I wouldn't totally rule it out!!

Gerry Murphy on Carlisle v Town (pre match)

One thing is for certain - no way can we play as bad as we did in the home fixture and expect to win (still don't know how we got the victory that day).

Thursday, March 15, 2007

John McCombe has gone out on loan to League Two side Boston United.

John McCombe Completes Loan Move

For what it is worth, I think it is a good decision. With Tosh seemingly back in favour, we are now alright for cover at centre half if Mirf / Frank ended up injured.

Wednesday, March 14, 2007

Paul Hayes reveals he would like to stay at Town. His loan spell ends on March 24th, but is confident that he will be with us to the end of the season. I hope so, think he is a quality player. he finally got off the mark at the third attempt on Saturday, and I would like to think there will be a few more goals in him too.

Paul Hayes Interview

Ken Davy says that applications for the vacant managers job will be accepted until Friday, so it will be as we were against Carlisle. Next week will be very interesting indeed......

Just the news I didn't really want to hear.....

John Dungworth - I Want The Job

Now I am not saying he isn't qualified - he's got more coaching badges than Jacko had - but this mustn't happen. I was dead set against him assisting Jacko after Taff left (something I have been proved right on given recent developments), and I would never be in favour of his appointment should it happen. Talk about recruiting on the cheap (typical Town).

I have never said this since I started travelling over on my own for games (nearly 10 years now), but I would DEFINITELY be more selective about which games I would travel over for next season (and I went to matches just as often as I do now when Wadsworth was in charge).

I'm confident it won't come to that though.

Monday, March 12, 2007

I mentioned after Saturdays game that it would be nice if one of the players would come out and dedicate the win to PJ - Gary Taylor-Fletcher, take a bow....

GTF - We Won It For Jacko

THE HUDDERSFIELD TOWN NEW MANAGER STAKES!!!

Thought I would have a look some of the possibilities......

In no particular order:

Andy Ritchie - heavily favoured by some, lost his job at Barnsley in November despite winning the play offs last season. Was spotted at the Galpharm on Saturday.

Conclusion: Not surprised to see his name near the top of most peoples list, doesn't excite me as a potential Town manager though.

Kevin Blackwell - Been out of football since being sacked by Leeds last September. Been doing his homework since though by learning coaching techniques abroad. Ex-Town goalkeeper.

Conclusion: Would definitely interest me as a candidate. However, I'm sure I heard he is taking his former employers to court - do we want the baggage?

Gary Megson - Former Nottingham Forest and West Brom manager - was a failure at the former, successful at the latter. Been out of work just over 12 months.

Conclusion: Not for me. Did no good at Forest, if he did get our job I give him 12 months. Also spotted at The Galpharm on Saturday.

Ronnie Jepson - Current Gillingham manager, and hero of mine when he played for Town. Gillingham chairman approached for permission to speak to him on Friday. Permission denied.

Conclusion: Obvious candidate given his history at Town. Done little at Gillingham, but had little to do it with!! Would advocate his employment more on sentimental grounds, I admit. Would be seen as another Jacko.

Micky Adams - Former Coventry manager, lost his job after Christmas after a run of poor results. Likable, still highly regarded at Leicester City.

Conclusion: This sounds more like it to me. An interesting candidate, feel sure he must have applied - has to be worth an interview - would be an excellent appointment.

Jim Gannon - Current Stockport manager, has worked wonders there - young, up and coming, used to working on a shoestring. If Stockport didn't get promotion, feel sure that he may tempted up a division.

Conclusion: Would be my clear choice of manager - however, has been described as a "..Stockport Man..." as Jacko was a "...Huddersfield Man...", if you see what I mean. Living in the North-West have seen a lot of Stockport on the tv, and what I see impresses me. really like this guys management style. Ticks every single box for me - an enquiry would cost nothing would it??

Phil Parkinson - Currently assistant manager at Charlton Athletic. Got Colchester out of League One, but his spell at Hull City lasted less than 6 months.

Conclusion: Has what it takes to manage at this level, would be available as I understand that his contract with Charlton is only until the end of the season. Could see him as Town boss, would do a good job for us I reckon.

As things stand I can't see the new boss not being one of the aforementioned seven, however its not my call - Mr Davy has made it clear that there is no rush - lets hope he makes the right decision.

The Examiner website have kindly put the last "...Ask Jacko..." column on-line. It goes on to answer the one thing I wanted to know - why no signings in January...

The Examiner - Ask Jacko Column

I always maintained it was for financial reasons and NOTHING else that players wouldn't come to play for us. Looks like I have been proved right on that one. And I think the question "...Are you a victim of your own success..." is the sort of question I would have asked given the chance. Clearly he is, seeing as he delivered season on season improvement previously, and is being punished on one poor season.

The dugout will not see as much passion in many a year, and I will miss him.

In response to the message I just received in the guestbook:

"...Whats going to happen to the site then now that hes gone? ..."

Jacko may be gone (again) but the club I worship is still here. I started this weblog as a passionate Town fan and nothing else, Jacko just happened to be our manager. The site will continue, probably even if no-one wanted to read it. Its for Town fans, created by a Town fan - and.........

..........Thats The Way it Is ..........

(That do ya)??

This is the audio of an interview given by Ken Davy to Paul Ogden yesterday. Interesting listening it makes too.

Ken Davy Interview

So the Gillingham roumer was true then, no talking to RJ without agreeing terms first - said earlier in the week that there was no way Ken Davy would be held to ransom (and basically that is what is going on here), so while not ruling Ronnie out of the running completely, his odds have drifted, so to speak.

*******

I promise this is the last time I will hark back (truly promise this time) - quiz question - what is the connection between Jackos last home match as Town manager the first time and his last home match as Towns manager the second time....... and the answer suddenly hit me (under the influence of drink it has to be said) last night............

...........any ideas..............

Same opposition........... Crewe Alexandra!

(Although that 0-0 draw I witnessed that Sunday in May 1999 was probably more memorable for the pre-match performance by Boyband 911)!

And although at that time, of course, roumers of PJs imminent sacking were rife, I didn't believe, as I didn't believe 2 weeks ago, that it would be a long time before I would see him (in real life I mean) again.....

.....but we move on.

Huddersfield Town 2-0 Bradford City

Town registered a double against a very poor Bradford side in a bad tempered affair at The Galpharm. From what I can gather we have played a hell of a lot better this season (the Crewe match for instance) and lost! Jon Worthington returned to the midfield, and Martin McIntosh made the bench (it was announced earlier in the week that Tosh and Mark Hudson both have a "...clean slate...").

Message for any stray Bantams that have found their way here:

YOU ARE GOING DOWN!!

Town were in front in the third minute when Paul Hayes opened his account with a good header from Andy Taylors cross (Taylor had his best game in a Town shirt by a mile).

Bradford wasted various chances, but all in all they were a very poor outfit, and playing like that they will be playing 4th division football next season (snigger).

Town wrapped up the points when Danny Schofields lob found the back of the net with 15 minutes left.

All in all a very sweet victory against our hated rivals, and I am thrilled to pieces (following the game at work not proving as difficult as anticipated as the "...livescore..." site we are permitted to use (discreetly) kept me fully up to date). Although I am hoping that one of the players will come out and say that this victory was as much for Jacko as anyone. That would be nice.

You can't blame me for being a bit upset at PJ missing out on this, can you.

Gerry Murphy on Town v Bradford (written)

Gerry Murphy on Town v Bradford (audio)

Spotted in the ground - Andy Richie, Gary Megson and Stuart McCall - although all have been linked with Bradford job as well so I am not reading too much into this - in fact Mr Davy has hinted it could be 3 or 4 weeks before an appointment is made. More news on the Jeppo situation - yes, it definitely looks like Gillinghams chairman is in it for the compensation - reportedly wanting to agree a figure before we can speak to Rocket Ron again (I wonder you know if Jeppo actually applied for the Town job - I have a suspicion he might have done, but obviously Mr Davy has to do these things correctly of course - this is going to run for a bit longer yet)!

The first match of the post-Jacko era is against our old foe Bradford. I still don't understand why Davy sacked him this week with this match coming up........ sorry I'm harking back again!

Going to be difficult to follow the game at work - websites are restricted at the workstations, so no Sky Soccer centre (only on one of the TV screens), no BBC minute-by minute, no mobile phone use - it will be torture, but I will try my very best believe me.

We will not lose to those smelly chickens trust me - the Gerry Murphy caretaker-time will get off to a flyer - 3-0 to Town.

Come on lads, do this for PJ.........

Friday, March 9, 2007

Jackos appeareance on Soccer Night went well. Was thrilled to bits with the montage at the beginning - wonderful memories, my heart was throbbing with pride!! It was really nice to see him, nice to see that he still has many kind things to say about the club (something C Todd will do well to listen to) - he did mention the "...8 players..." thing again though!!!

(My husband less than impressed unsurprisingly "...oh, wonderful, not going to get through to my missus for half an hour now am I, why doesn't he just go away - he's sacked, finito..." - I threw a look at him that succesfully silenced him for the duration of the broadcast)!

Towns search for a new manager is up and running, applications a plenty I am told - but only one person has actually been spoken to officially..........

I admit being delighted at this - a Jepson and Booth dream team??????? I dare not dream, but one thing does bother me - Gillinghams Chairman Paul Scully seems almost too keen for Rocket Ron to speak to us......... make of that what you will!!!

Also, this in the Yorkshire Post.

Jackson - I Will Bounce Back

And finally, PJ is on Yorkshire Soccer Night tonight - and I am totally indebted to the DATM members who have shown me how to re-programme my Sky Digibox so I can receive Yorkshire TV!!!!!!!

Wednesday, March 7, 2007

I faithfully promise after today to look forward and not back - so just one final thing - here is what I said after that shambles of a defeat to Oldham back in November.

".....For what it is worth I think PJ will dig his heels in and stay, knowing full well that Davy can't afford to sack him, although I have a worrying suspiscion that a "...mutual consent..." exit might be arranged ...."

I did say I had seen this coming a while..........

This is from the official website, a nice look back at Peter Jacksons Huddersfield Town career. Loving the photo of him in his playing days, ah the memories xx

Jacko - Three Times A Terrier

Some words of support from Chris Kamara.

Chris Kamara - Jacko Hard Done To

...Well, that was a bit of a disappointment - brief would be the word. The press conference wasn't really shown, but he did say a few words:

"...At times its not a nice job, at times its an excellent job, but obviously the times when the team is struggling obviously fans and everybody puts more pressure on you - there's enough pressure in the job, but that's part and parcel of being a manager and how you react to them situations, so, obviously I've had fantastic times, I've had down times, but its important that Peter Jackson bounces back..."

I admit it was very nice to see him **blushes**, although I wish it had been under more favourable circumstances.

Coverage of Jackos press conference is coming on Look North (ah the wonders of Sky Television) in about 10 minutes - a transcript to appear on this site shortly.

This from The Times......

Peter Jackson - I'm Gutted

I await tomorrows press conference with interest.

Jon Worthington signs until 2009 - I am delighted, but would like to think that this would have happened regardless......... I am sure it would have done.

Worthy signs for 2 more years

I am sorry, but the alcohol is really kicking in now. Just asked Sam for his feelings, seeing as he was there as I saw the news for the first time - saw my heart breaking right under his nose if you will - asked him if he felt sorry for me, or for PJ, or if he knew how I upset I was ........ response......

"...why would I feel sorry for someone you have been in love with long before I even knew you..."....ok.....

Sam and I have been together since December 1999, he has always accepted me as the Town nut I am and nothing else. PJ wasn't even manager then, (although at the time the mention of his name would have made me extremely emotional) and I'm certain I never mentioned him to any degree until his return in June 2003 (Sam and I were married in September 2003). Since then, I have struggled to keep my feelings to myself on occasion, even though Sam was a complete rock to me during the rotten days when I wasn't even sure I would have a club left to support from one day to the next. Hate to think about that.

At the end of the day, the club I have loved for over 17 years is STILL there, always will be, and I will be too no matter what - TTID!!!

Tuesday, March 6, 2007

I am writing this before the large bottle of chardonnay kicks in.............

Had all day to mull over whats happened - I am only two weeks into my new job of course, so I owed it to them to give 100% even though I felt far, far from that!!!

When I found out the news this morning I admit I had a quiet cry. What else would you expect?? I was exactly the same the first time he was sacked (was working in a shop that day, went in the toilets to shed my tears on that occasion).

If I have my Town supporting head on for just a moment, I have to say that maybe this was the right decision. We appear to be going nowhere fast this season - I would be a liar to suggest I hadn't seen this coming by the by, I saw it as long ago as November. (I remember on my way home from my abortive trip to the Scunthorpe match thinking I would be lucky if I saw PJ again). I only hope the board make the correct decision as far as a replacement goes (more later).

With my Jacko supporting head back on, I openly admit I will miss him terribly. It was no co-incidence that my seat of choice in the McAlpine / Galpharm has been within a short distance of the home dugout (it remained the same, by the way, even when Bruce / Macari / Wadsworth were in charge, the LB lower is my spiritual home and will stay that way whoever is in charge). It will take a little getting used to, but I got over it last time, and I will again.

Managers come and go, but I am a TOWN FAN FOR LIFE. 100% TERRIER - TTID!!!

As for a replacement, well my choice would be Ronnie Jepson (have said this in the past), but I guess I would be accused of being blinkered by the fact that he is also one of my all-time favourite Town players, however I would be happy with Kevin Blackwell or, if the club are ambitious enough to go to League Two and persuade Jim Gannon to leave Stockport - that would be a fantastic appointment, but as Mr Davy says they are inviting applications then that would seem to rule that out.

But time to move on, and look forward post-Jacko (I am doing my best although at this early stage I am having severe trouble) to Saturdays match against Bradford - and hopefully 3 points for the lads in the stripes - COME ON TOWN!!!!!!!!

Jacko Leaves

I am utterly devastated, never dreamed it would happen this week, thought that if he was still here yesterday then he would still be here for Saturday - I am completely shellshocked (predictably my husband can't see what all the fuss is about, although I know for a fact he is quietly glad that "...your other bloke..." is gone).

My mind is in a bit of a state right now, not sure what I can say.

I think everyone is aware about my feelings for him, 16 and a half years is a long time to be an admirer of anyone - and the thought of him not being there when we play Bradford on Saturday breaks my heart (and for my next visit, when we play Port Vale - gutted).

I take many, many happy memories from his tenure here - that fantastic day in Cardiff for one - and will look back on the last 3 and a half years with pride. And I hope Jacko does too (I'm sure he will).

Finally,

If, by any small chance you get to read my humble weblog Peter, you will see that there ARE still some of us who didn't - never - wanted this to happen. My support for you has been unfailling throughout both your spells as manager, and my heart is heavy today.

Thanks for the memories,

all my love, your staunchest fan,

Julie xxx

The audio link of Jackos post match interview from Saturdays match isn't working yet, will post it on here as soon as it is. But here's the written version.

Jacko on Forest v Town (written)

....but he is confident for next Saturday, our derby versus our hated neighbours Sadford.

Jacko - We Will Bounce Back

So all the predicting that PJ would be out of a job today is wrong - he will still be our manager come Saturday, but I dare not even think about defeat against the chickens - that really would be the ultimate humiliation, the absolute end - even for me. I can hear that bus revving up its engine in the distance...............

Saturday, March 3, 2007

Did anyone else hear what Jacko said after the match this afternoon (I will post the link on here as soon as I can). I was screaming at the radio in total frustration. I just said on DATM that he could be digging his own grave here. How anyone could find anything positive to say about this afternoons shambles - and to clearly blame Sinclair and Mirfin, well words very nearly fail me. I don't remember PJ taking any responsibility - groan - no wonder the knives are out, if he could have said something like "...I hold my hands up we are not good enough and the buck stops with me..." maybe the fans would be more sympathetic.

And as for Tosh and Mark Hudson - they are most definitely finished, no way back at all for either of them - and considering that Hudson was virtually un-dropable earlier in the season, makes you wonder what they fell out about (mentioned before about PJ not liking players who stand up to him, perhaps that's what happened).

(but I am still not on the "...Jacko Out..." bus yet, want to make that clear, but I am getting closer and closer to it).

Nottingham Forest 5-1 Huddersfield Town

A thrashing, a humiliation, a disaster. I am completely stunned by this (but I did say earlier that this could happen, although I never honestly dreamed it would).

Town were behind as early as the 6th minute when Junior Agogo scored, it was 2-0 in the 17th when McGugan scored, 3-0 in 19 minutes when Holt scored and 4-0 before half-time when Perch got a goal.

I know we are short on players at the moment - no Fletch, no Worthy, no Boothy - but I honestly think it wouldn't have made much difference. Totally outcassed in every department - only David Mirfin I would say with even a shred of credit here.

2nd half - no different - Agogo got his 2nd in the 60th minute, and the Town fans headed for the City Ground exits. I don't blame them, its a poor performance and we have problems. Big ones.

Matty Young got a consolation in the 82nd minute, but who is going to remember this game for that???

I firmly believe no matter what anyone else says, that Ken Davy will NOT sack Jacko for this. Not when Bradford are our next opponents, can't see it. The other side of the coin is, of course, if we were defeated by our hated rivals PJ would never be forgiven - that would be curtains, probably even for me (don't want to think about it). But more about this later in the week. I'm off out to drown my many, many sorrows - it's awful and I am utterly devastated.

Just a final note, I am at the moment listening to Kieran O'Regan talking to Derm Tanner on the radio, and its heartbreaking - you can hear the upset in his voice. "...how many more players is Peter Jackson going to fall out with...", "...what do they do on the training ground...", "...our midfield 4 are as much use a chocolate fireguard...", and, more telling this "...the whole club needs an overhaul from top to bottom...". A very, very interesting interview. Difficult listening in all honesty. My 17th anniversary as a Town fan is a disaster.

Half Time - Forest 4-0 Town

Well I did say it would be one way or the other - I am utterly destroyed, heartbroken - the "...Jackson Out..." brigade are going into overdrive on DATM - but I am fighting my corner!! "...Stand By Your Man..." and all that type of thing.

First Half from hell and no mistake.

Its 17 years ago today that I made my fateful visit to Leeds Road (my programme from that game is pictured above), and by coincedence of course Town are in action today, this time against Nottingham Forest (imagine the spooky connection had last weekends and this weekends fixtures had been the other way around). I am only hoping that the result isn't the same.....

League One is a funny old league this season with everyone capable of beating everyone else. Was speaking to a Crewe fan last night (he was at the game last Saturday but this was the first time I had seen him since then) and he was of the same opinion (thankfully for me the ribbing he gave me was in good humour (and accepted in the same grace), none of the nastiness of last weekend). That being so, this game could go one of two ways - a good Town win, or the biggest thrashing we have had for years. I don't see a draw - although that would not have been the worst result had we not lost to Brentford and Crewe.

Looking forward to listening Oggy and Kieran (who was a substitute in that match 17 years ago today, another coincedence) - lets hope they have a Town victory to report on - fingers crossed COME ON TOWN!!!
