So the Gillingham roumer was true then, no talking to RJ without agreeing terms first - said earlier in the week that there was no way Ken Davy would be held to ransom (and basically that is what is going on here), so while not ruling Ronnie out of the running completely, his odds have drifted, so to speak.

I promise this is the last time I will hark back (truly promise this time) - quiz question - what is the connection between Jackos last home match as Town manager the first time and his last home match as Towns manager the second time....... and the answer suddenly hit me (under the influence of drink it has to be said) last night............

(Although that 0-0 draw I witnessed that Sunday in May 1999 was probably more memorable for the pre-match performance by Boyband 911)!

And although at that time, of course, roumers of PJs imminent sacking were rife, I didn't believe, as I didn't believe 2 weeks ago, that it would be a long time before I would see him (in real life I mean) again.....

.....but we move on.
