Think Town look massively overpriced at 20s. And how the heck my employers make Leeds 9-2 favourites I will never know, not exactly value is it!!

Andy Ritchies latest attempt at a signing proves fruitless. Here we go again.

Jason Scotland Signs For Swansea

We miss out yet again, money doing the talking once more - it is getting beyond a joke. I actually feel sorry for AR, none of this is his doing. Many players would want to play for him, but it's money - the lack of predictably - that means we will most likely end up with loan players / free transfer rejects no better than who we have just got rid of.

And you will still get Town fans who will tell you that the reason we signed no-one in January was down to Jacko and nothing else - as if, by the way - unless Davy is prepared to get in the real world for a change and back our new gaffer with some new, real, money then forget it. We'll never be contenders.

Thanks to everyone who took the trouble to vote in the first ATT Poll. The results are in.

No surprises here with a clear win for the late, great, Herbert Chapman getting 71% of the vote.

Just wondering (apologies if someone else has thought of this already), but shouldn't Town be thinking about putting a statue up of the great man in time for our Centenary??

New poll up, this time regarding our two players currently on loan at Blackpool - Vote Now!!

The first of our released players finds a new home.

Adnan Ahmed Snapped Up By Tranmere

Good luck to the lad - I make no secret of having never really rated him, half-a-dozen decent games a couple of seasons back and that is his Town career in a nutshell. But this new start at Tranmere will be good for him I'm sure. Lets hope he can avoid the injuries / petulant tackles that seem to blight him.

Looks like AR is finally closing in on a target or two.

Ritchie - Promising Talks

Ok, the article is a bit vague, we don't know who the player is or what position he plays, but it is a step in the right direction. Rumours on the DATM grapevine are suggesting it could be Malvin Kamara from Port Vale, but it's purely speculation.

Also, Chris Brandon could be in the Blackpool side that faces Yeovil in the league One play-off Final on Sunday.

Brandon Could Enter Reckoning

Just a random thought, would Blackpool gaining promotion probably mean more chance of CB returning (Rabs has been offered terms I gather, so he is staying there)? I still live in the hope of his return anyhow.....

Been a few names bandied about this week about the sort of players AR should be looking to sign. I have a couple of ideas on that score, both involving players from clubs local to me. Whether they could be persuaded to sign is another matter, but they would both be excellent additions.

The first one I thought of plays for Crewe and he is midfielder Billy Jones. Won't sign another contract for them, so on his way. Our local papers say that the only enquiry they had for him was from Stoke and that was months ago. Dario Gradi can't understand why he isn't creating more interest, and I'm inclined to agree. My Crewe supporting contacts tell me that he is a very useful tool on his day, not shy in going for goal. Is also capable of playing in defence, and I gather, their player of the season a couple of years ago. Still only 20, must be worth an look.

The other (and this will probably cost us money) is Leon Constantine at Port Vale. Now we know what he can do!! Scored a hatfull of goals for them last season, but has the crowd on his back so wants out. I feel it would be worth pushing the boat out for him, as we are going to be rewarded in certain goals. In fact, I love the idea of him playing upfront with Luke Beckett (assuming the recent rumourmongering that he may be off isn't true), would be an excellent partnership imo.

Problem will be money, or the lack of. Been a constant millstone, will continue to be so - but if, maybe, you know, Mr Davy could be persuaded to loosen the purse-strings just a little, it really would be worth it, and we could have a season to savour. Bring it on!

Andy Ritchies first attempt at a signing (not counting Big Frank of course) , comes to nothing.

Kuffour No To Huddersfield

...although it doesn't actually say in the article that Jo Kuffour said no, more like his agent saying it. Decent player too, would have been a good signing, ah well.

Slightly worrying though - released 7 players, and possibly Rabs too (and even, I daren't think it, Chris Brandon if Blackpool want him), but no-one, aside from Sinclair, Danny Racchi and Aaron Hardy, and a few more academy lads (and they wont be ready imo) - we're going to need more than that if we are serious on promotion. I know that AR is working to a tight budget, what worried me is that it may be, how can I put this, too tight!! We've had this trouble before when the money wasn't enough, and I hope we are not similarly blighted by this again. Early days yet though I suppose.

Decided to give the Blog a bit of a new look / makeover today, just to freshen things up a bit, and added an extra links bar to the side. There will be NO CHANGE in the output though, believe me!!

TOWN TIL I DIE!!!!!!

Looks like two of Towns cast-offs could be sorted with a new club shortly.

Tosh and Macca Interest Mansfield Town

There is no truth in the rumour that Mansfields Chief Scout is Stevie Wonder.

Frank Sinclair signs his new contract. Good news, nice work Town!

Sinclair Signs 1 year Deal

There has been some recent debate about what position he will be playing in next season, but I would have thought with Messers McIntosh and McCombe being shown the exit it will be at Centre Half, and we may be looking for a new right back (if Andy Holdsworth is to stay in Midfield).

And Big Frank also anticipates great things for next term.

Sinclair - Championship Here We Come!!

Farewell Tosh, Huddy and Others

Towns official release list - no surprises.

Ritchie Releases Seven Players

Glad he wasn't fooled into offering Mark Hudson a new contract. Good luck to all of them, I'm sure they will do fine jobs at other clubs in the near future.

Season End Summary

Well, that was the season that wasn't - first time in years Town have had nothing to play for since about February - I guess someone had to finish mid-table, and unfortunately it was us!! This season was fairly forgettable on the pitch, exceptions being the wins at the Galpharm against Bristol City and Swansea (two last minute Pawel Abbott winners), and a league double against (now relegated) Bradford. Gary-Taylor Fletcher made the headlines in August when the third goal against Rotherham at the Galpharm turned out to be the 500,000 in football league history.

Town had a disappointing time in front of the Sky cameras as well - well and truly beaten by Crewe on a wet day in September, and a wretched 4-1 reverse against Yeovil back in January.

Three home cup-ties, three 1st round defeats - about all you can say about that!!!

Biggest disappointment (for me), of course, was Peter Jacksons sacking in March - although given the way the season had been going, maybe it was inevitable (4-1-4-1, what was that about).

Results of late though did pick up, and if we can continue this revival under new boss Andy Ritchie, we could be contenders next season. A clear out of the dead-wood, plus a few new faces to freshen up the place, and who knows!

And finally, in case anyone was wondering who was the face behind these ramblings this season, well it was me.......

To anyone who was sitting near me in the LB Lower this season "...Hi there..." and "...surprise..." (sign the guestbook if you recognise me)!!! Hopefully I will see you all next season, provided I don't find the word "...Reserved..." emblazoned on my seat........

Huddersfield Town 3-1 Leyton Orient

Town bring the curtain down on the old season in style with a second consecutive home win against a very ordinary Orient side.

Town much deserved the win as well, and were in front in the 11th minute - Frank Sinclairs clever ball finding Mark Hudson who pulled the ball back to Michael Collins to score from 12 yards.

Well, against Northampton we saw the first goal scored by a Town defender this season - we didn't have to wait long for a second, when after 26 minutes Sinclair was involved again, and he provided the cross that enabled Andy Holdsworth to score his first of the season. He wasn't long in doubling his tally when right on half-time - a poorly cleared cross landed straight at him, and Holdsworth made no mistake with the shot. 3-0 up and we are cruising!!

Orient did get a goal back just before the hour mark, a 25 yard shot by right-back Jason Demitriou beating Matt Glennon.

It was Orients only moment of note, and Town were comfortable for the vast majority of this match, all boding well for next season - pity its 97 days away (I'm counting....).

Following this game at work was impossible. I was sat on the furthest workstation away from the televisions, and with 2 of the nosiest Supervisors walking the floor using the Net was out of the question. I got my mid-session break at around 1/2 4 and only then did I find out how we were getting on (although I had a feeling we were most likely winning).

Sounds all in all an excellent performance, and as I have said before, with a few ins and outs in the summer next season could be one to savour - I can't wait already!!!

Will post a comprehensive end of season review in the morning.

Season 2006/2007 comes to a close today with Towns final game, at home to Leyton Orient. Of course neither team are playing for anything, but I'm still hoping for a good Town win to end things in style. Disappointed not to be there of course, but still, I'll be there next season raring to go!!

COME ON TOWN!!!!!!

Soccer Night last night - anyone else tune in?

Two things:

Jon Stead on Either/Or. More of a nod in Towns direction would have been nice, instead of answering all the questions towards Sheff U (United over Town, N Warnock over PJ, Bramhall Lane over The Galph, United staying up over Town Promotion and so on), although it was more a case of knowing what side is bread is presently buttered I imagine.

Secondly, fair play to John Shires for managing to keep a straight face throughout, even when the subject manner was Leeds and Bradford being relegated - now that's what I call a true professional! No way could I have got through that broadcast without bursting into spontaneous laughter at some point (he must have been tempted), we fellow Town fans salute you!!

Thought I had to post in response to an article in today's Examiner.

Jacko Favourite for Chester Hot Seat

Now this is the spooky bit - I had a dream the other night that Jacko DID get the Chester job (the great man was nowhere to be seen in my dream regrettably) - so how weird is that!! I know how highly regarded he still is at Chester (I attended the pre-season friendly there remember) and I would much rather he took over there than at Bradford (for obvious reasons).

We wait and see!

Nice to see that Andy Ritchie is already looking to next season and re-building, starting with giving this Manchester United youngster, defender Phil Marsh, a run-out for our reserves tonight.

Town To Run Rule Over Marsh

Phil Marsh - Manchester United

And as AR says, you don't stay at Man U for 4 years if you don't have something (even though he has only made one first team appearance in that time of course). I'm just heartened by the fact that he is looking to the future, and we still have one game left of the old season!
