A Terrier's Tale.....

Been a few names bandied about this week about the sort of players AR should be looking to sign. I have a couple of ideas on that score, both involving players from clubs local to me. Whether they could be persuaded to sign is another matter, but they would both be excellent additions.

The first one I thought of plays for Crewe and he is midfielder Billy Jones. Won't sign another contract for them, so on his way. Our local papers say that the only enquiry they had for him was from Stoke and that was months ago. Dario Gradi can't understand why he isn't creating more interest, and I'm inclined to agree. My Crewe supporting contacts tell me that he is a very useful tool on his day, not shy in going for goal. Is also capable of playing in defence, and I gather, their player of the season a couple of years ago. Still only 20, must be worth an look.

The other (and this will probably cost us money) is Leon Constantine at Port Vale. Now we know what he can do!! Scored a hatfull of goals for them last season, but has the crowd on his back so wants out. I feel it would be worth pushing the boat out for him, as we are going to be rewarded in certain goals. In fact, I love the idea of him playing upfront with Luke Beckett (assuming the recent rumourmongering that he may be off isn't true), would be an excellent partnership imo.

Problem will be money, or the lack of. Been a constant millstone, will continue to be so - but if, maybe, you know, Mr Davy could be persuaded to loosen the purse-strings just a little, it really would be worth it, and we could have a season to savour. Bring it on!
