Huddersfield Town 0-2 Carlisle United

Well, I suppose it was only a matter of time before our makeshift side came undone. We were woeful today, culprits many. Ok, we are 4, maybe 5 players short - but we were utter garbage today, first half especially, and only Chris Brandon can hold his head high after this performance (although nothing can really be said to Luke Beckett as he had no service whatsoever).

You can tell that AR has read the riot act about the Yellow Card Fine - hardly a tackle in anger (apart from Chrissie B who ran and fought for everything, even in injury time at the end he was fighting when there was nothing to save). You would usually associate Jon Worthington with getting stuck in - not today - he just seemed completely uninterested today. And don't start me on Matty Young - any more performances like that and he will become this seasons Mark Hudson. I have never seen so many woeful crosses, meat and drink to the Carlisle defenders.

First half Town were anonymous, and lucky not to be behind before they were; the linesman in front of the Antich ruling out an early Carlisle effort for offside. But our charmed life wasn't to last, and although the goal was a little fortuitous (inside of the post / Glennon / N Clarke / Hardy getting in the way of successive shots), it was always coming. Danny Livesey doing the honours.

I knew if we went in only one down at half-time we would be doing well - predictably though it didn't happen. Joe Garner (who along with Marc Bridge Wilkinson was magnificent) headed in straight from a corner, and only good saves from Matty Glennon prevented more damage.

Town offered nothing of note in return, Chris Brandon (yes him again) hitting the side netting with an effort and Kamara with a solo run from the half way line finding one defender too good for him.

Second half Town improved slightly, but I was wondering whether that was more to do with Carlisle taking their foot of the gas. Their keeper didn't have a save to make. Malvin Kamara almost didn't seem to know what to do when he got the ball half the time, and Messers Worthington, Young and Collins were all hopeless today - there was no width at all.

It finished 0-2, and that to me was a fair reflection. Once Big Frank, The Ox, Cadders and Scoffer are back we will be something like. This was a forgettable performance and no mistake, but not taking anything away from Carlisle who looked decent today and I can see finishing top 6.

Things can only get better.

Just a little footnote, I was delighted to see that I had made my way into todays programme!! I am in the background of the build up to Luke Becketts Yeovil goal, near Andy Holdsworths shoulder behind a guy in a red t-shirt. The same guy is obscuring me on the goal celebration photo though.

Wasn't that Football Freestyle guy at half-time something else - never missed a trick, sensational. I was sitting there waiting for him to slip up - it didn't happen. Most enjoyable (although the blokes probably thought not a patch on the Casino Red girls of 2 weeks ago)!
