I did say on DATM I wouldn't post the following on here without the authors permission, but I cannot let this go - possibly the greatest, certainly the most heartfelt post I've ever seen - thanks Bradford Based Blue....
"...Dear Mr. Davy,I had grave doubts about you from the very beginning.
1. The demise of Sheffield Eagles to ensure the Huddersfield Giants continued.
2. The company you were a Director of fined by FSA for misdemeanours.
3. Your dogged refusal to offer anything more than a Season ticket to the Bond Holders (only after a public outcry) to compensate them for thier loss.
4. The Autocratic way you dealt with the ST regarding a position on the Board.
5. The derogatory remarks towards the fans last season.
These are just a few examples of the kind of character you are. You are a businessman. You only understand one thing, MONEY. I accept that nice guys dont win prizes. This is business and its cut throat.
Mr. Davy, I think you have seriously underestimated just how much Huddersfield Town FC means to Huddersfield, the surrounding areas and its people. This is no ordinary business, this is a business where the product you sell matters to people. This product is indelibly etched into peoples lives and hearts.Castle Hill, Emley Moor mast to name but a few....Landmarks that put Huddersfield on the map. These landmarks visible to all for miles around, always there in the corner of your eye as you go about your business around Huddersfield. However, many of us can't see the magnificant Galpharm stadium. Many of us no longer live in the Huddersfield area. I know of people that make the journey from Carlisle, Bristol, Skelmersdale and Hull...the four corners of this great country.
So you see Mr. Davy but we dont have to live in Huddersfield to appreciate the things that remind us of Huddersfield because we carry Huddersfield Town around in our hearts every waking day.We turn up in our thousands, every week to watch our beloved Huddersfield Town and every person in that ground knows the illustrious history we have. Some even remember great times in the early 70's, and the season under Mick Buxton as we set records breaking the 100 goals barrier. For most of us, we can but dream about those levels of success again.
Granted, football is a different beast and we will never know the kinds of success we had in the 1920's again. I dont ask for much, all i want is for a few seasons of going forward, a few seasons of relative success instead of this stagnation and marking time. This group of players ARE good enough, they ARE the right personnel and with a few well chosen additions CAN achieve success.
THIS CANNOT BE DONE WITH PENNY PINCHING AND CUTTING CORNERS. PAY CHEAP, PAY TWICE!!
I will be quite blunt sir, you are not the man to take us forward. You are not the man to bring success to this club. You are not the man to give us fans the kind of experiences our hearts desire. You don’t feel the pain of a Town defeat. You haven’t held your son in your arms trying to console him after seeing your beloved Town relegated. You haven’t held your son in your arms trying to console him after seeing your team just miss out on automatic promotion because of some freak goal. You haven’t held your son in your arms after experiencing his first promotion whilst following his beloved Town, he is now 17 yrs old so that just highlights how sparingly the good times come around, and yet we continue to turn up in our thousands in the hope that some modicum of success will come our way again soon. You will NEVER feel that passion, the kind of love for my Huddersfield Town that i share with 13,000 other kindred souls.
Its time to let go....Its time you cut your losses. Its time for you to do the decent thing. Hand back the 40% of the stadium and sell the club. Make your profit, i dont begrudge you that.
Its time to let someone who has the kind of passion you have for the Giants take us forward.
This clubs is going backwards at an alarming rate of knots and will continue to do so with you at the helm. The longer you remain in charge the further back we fall and the more your investment becomes a burden. As an astute businessman you know this is the right time to let go...."
Stunning. I have suggested that he certainly send a copy to KD asap, and also to Andrew Watson, Paul Ogden, Andrew Crawshaw and Mel Booth - and I await out Chairmans reply with great interest.
