The last mention about Jacko and his new job (unless it is Town related - way things are going you wouldn't rule out a League meeting between the two of us next season - and yes I do mean in League 2)), scouts honour!!

Peter Jackson - Press Conference

Nice to see he chose one of my catchphrases "...the only way is up..."!! Mind you, seeing as they are 92nd in the Football League, what else could he say!! I hear that Taff is back job hunting again - what price him linking up with PJ yet again? Or will he rid us of Dungheap & Booty (but hope he doesn't offer us Nat Brown in return). We can hope!!

I knew he couldn't stay out of football forever...........

Peter Jackson - New Lincoln Manager

PJ In Profile

If anyone will keep them up he will, I would put money on it. It is fantastic news, I'm delighted.

Our Chairman is not a happy man.

Ken Davy - An Apology

Not quite a vote-of-confidence for Andy Ritchie, but I can sense one on its way - and we know what usually follows one of them!! If I was AR I would be a worried man. get nothing on Saturday, Tuesday and in the Cup then that could be curtains for him.

Either that or it could be "..bad results = lower crowds = no money.."? Regardless, it seems that KD can finally see what everyone else has seen for weeks - we are terrible. Lets hope this verbal kick up the backside does the job in the way of 3 points against Port Vale.

Town followers everywhere breathe a sigh of relief.............

Keogh Goes Back To Bristol

Possibly the worst loan signing I have ever seen, now at least Mirf will get a game. Glad to see Ronnie Wallwork staying for another month, about the only shining light in our squad at present.

Oh, and this..........

Pearson Takes Over At Derby County

....what could have been!

Saturday, October 27, 2007

The FA Cup draw has been unkind to us. Accrington Stanley away (again). Mind you with Worthy injured there will be no chance of him being sent off, and lets just hope the BBC find another match to show this time.

Tranmere Rovers 3-0 Huddersfield Town

Another catalogue of defensive errors = another inept and embarrassing performance. I knew the writing was on the wall as soon as I heard we were unchanged from Saturday (no Mirf again, it's criminal). The same old problems that we have had all season (rubbish defensively, unable to score); we are going nowhere but down - quickly.

Town did get off to a fairly solid start though, without really creating a chance of note, but went behind on the half-hour mark. Keogh and Clarke helping tee up Paul McClaren who made no mistake with the finish. And it remained that way at half-time.

More defensive woe was to follow in the second half, as usual culprit Matt Glennon, who came to punch away a corner, only for it to land at an unmarked Shane Sherriff to head into an empty net. It was effectively game over at that point, no way back.

Even the introduction of Daniel Broadbent and a change to 4-3-3 did nothing for Town. The third Tranmere goal was also conceded from a set-piece (how many more times), when Gareth Taylor nodded home at the near post from a corner.

Half Time: Tranmere 1-0 Town

Paul Ogden has just summed this up perfectly, "..some good, some bad..". Town have not played too bad by the sound of it, a sleeping defence (again) allows Paul McClaren to open the scoring.

Friday night action this week, with a match against high-flying Tranmere. Couldn't persuade Sam to let me go, (probably be a tad cold anyway), so going to be tuning into Oggys commentary instead. A repeat of last seasons result (2-2 draw) would be a good result, as I cannot see us winning.

Tuesday, October 23, 2007

Today is my birthday. I am 35, but thanks to the aftereffects of my fall on Saturday my legs feel about 105!!

Town wise, my birthday has been fairly kind over the years. Thanks to the official website for this reminder of the last time we played on my Birthday...

Town 3-1 MK Dons 23 October 2004

A 32nd birthday to remember it really was (the hangover haunts me still).

And there was the year that Boothy scored a hat-trick (away at Northampton), and if I go really far back in the day I recall a 3-3 draw against Crewe, remember Ronnie Jepson getting one that day (think it was 1994, we were top of the league at the time).

Looking forward to a nice day.

Monday, October 22, 2007

Right, I've decided - enough of the misery, lets cheer ourselves up with probably one of my favourite Town goals ever. Lovely stuff.

It really is all over - confirmed.

Adam Pearson - Deal Is Dead

Very interesting. The way Ken Davy has treated Adam Pearson is nothing short of a disgrace, and I'm embarrassed.

A sad day for our club.

Huddersfield Town 1-1 Oldham Athletic

A sunny, but cold day, and a crowd boosted by a healthy Oldham contingent, were served up some typical Third Division fare. Town were well worth a point in my view, after their second half endeavour was light years away from a first half where the lads seemed to pick up from where they left off last Sunday at Doncaster.

A question for everyone - what does Andy Ritchie see in Richard Keogh that he doesn't see in David Mirfin? He's the best centre half we have, and yet Keogh and N Clarke are ahead in the pecking order - unbelievable. RK was a liability for nearly all this game, and for me a waste of a wage - he wants sending back to Bristol as soon as possible!!

Town were as uninspiring as they were last weekend, but it has to be said that Oldham were no great shakes either, their best chances coming from Town cock-ups - and it was one such incident that led to Oldham taking the lead. A ball that Matty Glennon should have collected - not sure whether he shouted or not, I was too far away to hear - inexplicably headed straight to Oldhams Craig Davies by Richard Keogh, and he made no mistake with a beautiful piece of skill that left Glennon flatfooted.

The highlight of the first half as far as the Town supporters were concerned was a rather brave streaker making an appearance from the Antich Stand. Fair play to the Stewards and the Police who made no attempt to stop the guy from doing his daft looking Cossack dance to hysterical laughter all round the ground. He was eventually persuaded to leave the pitch, and was quickly ushered away.

Second half, and despite no substitutions Town appeared to be a different outfit, creating many a chance - Danny Cadamarteri, Frank Sinclair, Danny Schofield and Luke Beckett missing good chances - I just had a feeling, particularly as Oldham appeared to me to be creating little, that an equaliser would eventually come. It took until the 81st minute. Danny Cadamarteri crossed in from the right hand side, and the ball was nodded home by Ronnie Wallwork (although not in the opinion of the Tannoy announcer (or Sky Soccer Saturday I'm told) who thought Luke Beckett had the final touch).

The word was going round the LB Lower "...we could win this...", but I really didn't think we would - and as I said earlier we were value for a point. Not the greatest game ever seen, but it is a point after all, and our first goal in over 5 hours of football.

*****

There were 2 Davy Out banners in the Antich Stand - one paraded in front of the spectators in that stand before the game, one that was briefly on display after the Oldham goal. Plenty of "...Davy Out, Pearson In.." chants even after the equaliser (although I'm sure the guy behind me in the LB Lower didn't have a clue what they were singing, because he was trying to join in, except his words didn't make any sense)!

Not sure what to make of this though.......

Pearson - Deal Is Off, Time To Move On

Surely I cannot be the only one who still hopes something can be salvaged?

****

Just a quick mention (because I said would) - many thanks to the kindly soul who sold me his "..friend for a tenner.." ticket outside the ground (his mate had been a no-show), meaning I could see the lads for a fraction of the price. I'm fairly sure that he doesn't visit this site, because I told him about it, and he looked a bit blank. Thought I would say a quick "..Thank you.." anyway.

The drama didn't finish for me even after the game, because partly in my haste to get my bus back to Manchester, and partly down to carelessness, I came a cropper down Stadium Way. I had a fairly soft landing, ending up in the bark chippings, still got a nasty bruise on my leg to show for it though!!

KD & AP - Is This The End?

Gutted. What a chairman he would have made.

If I had the choice of whether I went to or stayed away from games, stay away would be the answer. I don't have the luxury of choice, only getting to see Town as work dictates, so will be in attendance Saturday regardless 100% behind the lads and AR, 100% against Ken Davy (if he's there and hasn't something better to do).

Gutted.

Deadline day - and Adam Pearsons patience is wearing a bit thin

Pearson - I'm In no Rush - But Nothings Forever

That is starting loud alarm bells ringing with me. It would be a travesty if this ends up coming to nothing, and we are back where we started. A complete disaster. I agree that his proposal is looking "..more and more generous by the day..". How Davy cannot sell to this man is unbelievable when you look at where we are. No wonder my husband is fond of saying "..f****** Huddersfield Town, f****** useless team, going f****** nowhere.." - its understandable that as an outsider that is how he sees us!!

If no news by Saturday, it will be interesting to see what happens at the Galpharm, and I don't mean on the pitch!

Tuesday, October 16, 2007

Good job I just checked on National Rail Enquiries. Same problems as last year have reared their head, and it will be a bus from Manchester to Huddersfield and back again for me on Saturday **groan**. At least I found out now, not like last time this happened.........

Some worrying news from the Yorkshire Post.

Davy & Pearson - Deadlock

Not looking promising with 48 hours to go is it.

Monday, October 15, 2007

Seems there was a bit more to the missing banners than met the eye. I apologise if some of you who went to the trouble of taking banners with you yesterday thought I was a bit harsh by making you out to be apathetic or ignorant - not what I meant at all - just that with Sky not showing the banners I thought there wasn't any. Wrong - because it appears a number of you did take your "..Davy Out.." banners to Donny, only to have them confiscated.

Seemingly the Doncaster Stewards were alright with them, only for a phone call from a "..Director.." forcing their removal. This is the clubs Official response courtesy of Andrew Watson.

Andrew Watson - In The Teams Best Interest

Load of codswallop - what happened to freedom of speech? Nothing on those banners would have been offensive or libellous. Just HTFC Fans expressing their opinion. Its a disgrace, and hopefully these banners WILL be allowed to be displayed next Saturday at the Oldham game.

Meanwhile, thought I would make a banner of my own...

Doncaster Rovers 2-0 Huddersfield Town

Towns wretched time on the road continued against a spirited Doncaster side (their Chairman very much in evidence, ours nowhere to be seen - more of this later).

We were behind in the 13th minute, an excellent shot from the edge of the box from Brian Stock, and it was Doncaster who dominated almost the whole first half. How Town didn't concede 4 or 5 I'll never know, we were awful. Nearest we got to scoring was a stonewall-penalty (Cadders bundled over in the area) that the referee waved away (many others would have given it). If we had've equalised it would have been nothing like a true reflection - we created little or nothing. The last 10 minutes of the first half we looked to be picking up a little, Luke Beckett went close from a corner, but did nothing really to trouble Neil Sullivan in the Doncaster goal, who had a fairly quiet afternoon.

Second half and nothing much in the way of change. Constant Donny pressure, nothing from Town. The win was sealed in the 65th Minute when Rovers Mark Wilson collected the ball from a throw-in, strode forward and hit a low curling shot that beat Matt Glennon (who may have been partially unsighted).

James Hayter and James O'Conner were both denied by Matt Glennon saves, keeping the scoreline respectable. Danny Schofield went closest for Town with a couple of efforts after he came on as substitute, but we never truly liked making any headway today, and we are now in 15th place.

********

Of course I was watching this on Sky Sports, and I didn't enjoy the coverage one bit, not just the game neither as I was rather upset at the constant references and shots of Doncasters Chairman in the crowd, what a nice bloke he was, how passionate he was for Rovers, how much money he ploughs into them, all round good egg who even played for them at one time when times were hard.

Countless mentions of our Academy, how many players in the side had come from there (hardly the greatest advert for it today though). No sign of Ken Davy anywhere (you might know), and Adam Pearson wasn't even mentioned till about 5 minutes from the end. No banners were to be seen.

Fan ignorance or Sky selectiveness, who knows. All I do know is that we have too many useless players who know their places are not under any sort of threat, and will just stroll around collecting their wages. At this rate we'll be relegated. Another clear out is needed - and in the boardroom too. Lets hope Ken Davy can be persuaded to step aside (asap) and let Adam Pearson take over.

Half Time: Doncaster 1-0 Town

If the scoreline had read 3-0 you couldn't argue. For the first 35 minutes we looked absolutely woeful, an embarrassment. Got into it a bit more into it near the end of the half, and I suppose seeing as we are only one behind still perhaps we may have a chance.

Well, I'm nervously counting the hours down to kick off. I was talking to a (rather downcast it has to be said) Crewe supporter last night. I mentioned that we were on TV today and said "..it gives you the chance to see how rubbish we really are..", to which he replied "..I've already seen how rubbish you really are......"!

Looking forward to seeing the lads on Sky this afternoon, I hope we don't get ant Yeovil-type horror shows. Against my better nature am going to have a couple of wagers on this afternoons outcome (don't tell my husband). I think a couple of quid on Cadders to score first, maybe a couple of quid on Brando as well (assuming he is playing). A small win to Town?? 1-0 or 2-0?

The opinion of those I spoke to last night was a low scoring draw. We'll see. COME ON TOWN!!

Ken Davy seems to think Adam Pearson misunderstood his offer.

Davy Responds To Press Reports

Nothing but propaganda. That mans arrogance infuriates me. Nothing but a patronising retort to APs comments in the YP the other day. I'm furious and embarrassed in equal measure.

A couple of issues here for me. So, for every 4 of Adam Pearsons stake he will put in 6? So that would mean if AP put in £4,000,000 KD would put in £6,000,000. Can't see that happening can you, we would be the wealthiest club in League One!!!

Second of all, his "...seven days..." ultimatum (because that's what it is in my opinion) could well end up driving AP and his money and expertise to someone elses football club.

My opinion of Ken Davy is sinking by the day. Yes, I was grateful for him rescuing Town in the days I thought I would wake up to no club at all. But now is the time to step aside and do right by the club and his paying customers, us the fans.

Wednesday, October 10, 2007

The following has been written by a Hull fan, and to me it is the most glowing reference that AP could ever wish for, and should go a long way to convincing any doubters (if there are any left) that he truly is the man to take the our beloved Town forward.

(with kind regards to Bob Pepper and his friend the Hull City supporter)

"....So what to say about Pearson....?

He knows how to run a football club on a limited budget. He'll increase revenue, but not by raising prices in a manner that the fans cannot afford, but by trying to get more through the gate. He'll not pay over the odds as regards player contracts and transfer fees, but he'll back his manager, if there's someone the manager wants at a reasonable price.

He'll talk to the fans all the time, we still have the monthly Fans Liaison meetings he founded. He knows how to deal with the media, he's very approachable in that respect. He knows about STs, having dealt with the Co-operative! Plus he will introduce Fans Forums, at least one a season, and more if he can be persuaded.

I don't think you'll find a Hull City fan who has a bad word to say about him, which in this age of shysters and hoolies in charge of some clubs is something. As well as a businessman, he's a football man and a Terrier through and through. He won't rest until he feels he's taken the club as far as he can. He knows the ins and outs of running a club in league one and will make sure you get it, if its within his scope.

Having AP in charge might just be the best thing to happen to HTFC in many a year, IMO..."

AP has his right of reply.

Adam Pearson - Offer "..unworkable.."

My words of wisdom for him...........

DON'T GIVE UP!!

Tuesday, October 9, 2007

...amazing the things that come out while I am hard at work!!!!

Davy Offers Pearson Partnership Chance

Can't see this happening meself. Of course I like the idea, AP being Chairman and bringing his not-inconsiderable funds to Town - but he wants to own the club outright, not a partnership (that is my understanding), and that has been waved away seemingly ("...I am not selling the whole club...").

Curses. Lets hope Adam Pearson is the persistent type. If he ends up taking his money elsewhere I will be absolutely furious - a golden opportunity well and truly missed because of our selfish chairman.

I have a few words of wisdom for Mr Davy however.....

SELL UP, TAKE YOUR PROFIT (I DON'T BEGRUDGE YOU THAT), CONTINUE TO RUN THE GIANTS OR ENJOY YOUR RETIREMENT. LET TOWN BE RUN BY SOMEONE WHO GENUINELY CARES.

Understatement of the year from The Examiner:

And, more worrying still......

Ritchie - We Are Over Budget

Apparently, todays Examiner headline is "..Davy opens door on deal..". Heres hoping!

Sunday, October 7, 2007

Nice surprise this morning. Off today, so was busying myself doing my housewifely duties (hoovering, polishing, dinner making etc), my hubby, as ever, feet up with the paper, Sky Sports on in the background. Goals on Sunday came on while I was away from the TV - it took my dozy hubby nearly 20 minutes to inform me that Jacko was one of the guests ("...was reading the paper love, never noticed until I looked up...").

The housework came to an abrupt halt!

Nice to see PJ, it really was. No coincidence though that his appearance comes in the same week that his name is in the frame for the Port Vale job (have left my two-penneth on The Sentinel website as regards that), and the fact that Chris Kamara is co-presenter! But really nice to see him, no getting away from that.

Showed clips of Town from his days in charge, talked a lot about Town, Jacko still has nice things to say about us. He couldn't be blamed for sticking the boot in given yesterday and our current situation, but didn't. I was a bit disgruntled briefly when he said that the fans don't look any further back than the last three games, and it may pay to look at the bigger situation. Come on dear, give us slightly more credit than that!!!

Made my day, don't care who knows.

Walsall 4-0 Huddersfield Town

Embarrassing, inept, directionless, hopeless, rubbish (this was nearly all I was going to put for this posting).

Totally second best throughout this encounter, we have got what we deserved.

Behind in the 31st minute to an Anthony Gerrard header, 2 down before half time as Edrissa Sonko headed home. Mark Bradley made it 3 for the home side from close range in the 50th minute, then Towns fate was as good as sealed when Frank Sinclair was sent off for a second bookable offence. Walsalls veteran striker Tommy Mooney finished the rout with 20 minutes to go.

AR on Walsall v Town (official site)

******

Its very rare I get embarrassed for being a Town supporter, but today is as bad as it gets. We are allowed to wear casual clothes when we work at a weekend, and today I was wearing my old Bloggs HTAFC t-shirt; as soon as the result was final, if I had to leave my desk I made sure my arm was hiding the HTAFC logo on the front. I've never done that before.

I have mentioned before briefly about the fact AR has not been able to bring in his own men on the coaching side; look where its getting us. No point in mentioning under-investment, already covered that at length before. As our next match is on Sky next Sunday, wonder if this could be the chance for some of the attendees to get their message across to Davy in the most public of ways. We wait and see.

Time to hit the Chardonnay........

Away action for Town today at Walsall. I was at this fixture two seasons ago and saw a Town victory which relegated The Saddlers. I will be working (again), but hopefully in sight of a TV with Sky Soccer Saturday on! 3 points? Think we might just shade it today, 2-1 to Town.

Thursday, October 4, 2007

AR has his say on Cadders sending off.

Andy Ritchie Interview (ITV Local Video)

Its official, AP has made a bid for Town (\o/ yay \o/).

Davy - Proposal Received

...but the bad news is that our Chairman is no nearer to selling than he was before - or so he says.

Watch this space as they say, but I get the feeling that Adam Pearson is the sort of guy who doesn't give up that easily!

Huddersfield Town 1-1 Nottingham Forest

An eventful night for Danny Cadarmarteri, and some strange refereeing by ref Miller, ended with Town settling for a share of the spoils against an in-form Forest side.

Not much goalmouth action to speak of first half - main talking points were Michael Collins going off with an injury early on, and some dubious officialdom - free kicks if Town were the offenders, nothing if Forest fouled. Danny Cadarmarteris early booking for a nothing challenge would cost Town dear later on.

Second half, and Forest made a double substitution to try to break the deadlock - only it had the opposite effect - Andy Holdsworth played in Danny Cadarmarteri, who shook off his marker to rifle a low shot past the Forest keeper. Now despite Cadders celebrating in similar fashion after his goal on Saturday referee Miller was suitably unamused, and showed him a second yellow for his trouble (spoilsport) - Town down to 10 men!

The Forest equaliser came after the referee (him again) failed to spot a foul on Ronnie Wallwork, allowing play to continue, and it was Kris Commons who beat Matt Glennon with a good shot. The referee again had his yellow card out for the goal celebration.

20 minutes for Town to hang on, and hang on they did. An excellent performance (spoiled by Mr Miller), we can be proud.

Tuesday, October 2, 2007

Town are at home again tonight (and I will be in work for the full duration, curses) against Nottingham Forest. Should be a good game, lets hope we can pick up from where we left off and get back-to-back wins (crosses fingers).

*******

The "..Fight For Answers..." supporters group held a meeting with Ken Davy & Roger Armitage yesterday - this is what happened:

Fight For Answers Meeting

A few points:

"...What we have learned tonight is that, on top of the well documented £600k he personally put into the club to cover the deficit last season (which he confirmed at a previous meeting), the Giants also lent Town £400k last season..."

What the heck is that about? The Giants lending us money (or to be precise, KD gave them the money to give to us), and that is on top of the £600k "...introduced..." . Unbelievable.

also...

"...They confirmed that the combined fees received for Pawel Abbott and GTF was "nowhere near" the £300k+ we suggested..."

Great business that, letting two of our best players go for next to nothing.

and finally...

"...KD suggested that, if the rumours of AP's wealth were to be proven true, he very much doubted AP would have sufficient cash to do anything with the football club..."

So KD believes everything he reads in the papers then. Just because the NOTW and the Yorkshire Post said AP was going it alone, I don't believe that necessarily. He will have other backers I'm sure. (The AP deal is not dead in the water I am told, in fact other meetings are set to take place).

If KD thinks he is the only man to take the club forward then we are in big trouble. Sooner he is gone, the better it will be.
