Online Ticketing @ HTAFC.com. Anyone ever use it? I attempted to today for the first (and definately) the last time.
I was after 2 tickets for saturday (my nephew is coming with me) in block 4 of the LB Lower (my usual haunt - I don't have a ST btw). It offered me two together in Row V (in other words, miles away). Assuming that was the best that was available I reluctantly accepted them - only for the system not to accept my card details ffs - I checked my details 3 times, still no joy.
Rang the ticket office instead - managed to get 2 tickets in Block 4 LB Lower Row G and I was able to get one of the remaining "kid 4 a quid" tickets as well, and my payment was processed no problem - result (lets us hope we get one now).
(Oh yes, It is Luke who is accompanying me on Saturday by the way - don't blame us if Town draw another blank on Saturday)!!

1 point from a possible 6 off 2 supposedly winnable home games against supposedly lower lights - not good is it. Town hit the self destruct button yet again at a gloomy day at the Galpharm.
It could have all been so different had Town kept their first half performance going - they made the most of the appalling conditions to start with - and went ahead in the final minute of the first half. Boothy yet again headed home unmarked.
Jekyll and Hyde? You bet. No idea what AR said at half time, but Town came out a different outfit. defending deep, inviting Northampton on, total garbage; maybe this out come was inevitable.
With 15 minutes to go the equaliser came courtesy of Poul Hubertz. this prompted AR to make his only sub of the game (and Jacko used to get moaned at for his tactics ref substitutions ffs, this is just as bad if not worse), Scoffer off and Worthy on (what has Chris Brandon got to do to get a game, I despair).
The winner came with 5 minutes to go. A long ball up field from the Northampton keeper found the head of Hubertz, the ball found its way to Kirk who whipped a cross in for Jason Crowe to stab home at the back post. Rubbish. And in my opinion Andy Ritchie is being found out big time.
Do things get any worse? Well, in other news, it can do - this makes our woes pale into insignificance.

Motherwell captain Phil O'Donnell collapsed and died on the pitch during their game with Dundee United yesterday. He was 35, same age as me. Awful that things like this should happen, utterly tragic. The hearts of football fans everywhere go out to his wife and young family.
Andy Booth remembers a personal friend.

Today is one of those days that I would rather have been going to the game (I know its only Northampton, but I haven't been for ages) than be stuck in work, but so be it!! I will be at the Birmingham game next weekend so looking forward to that one! Hopefully 3 points today, at least with us drawing with Crewe meant I was pretty much untroubled by the Alex fans in the club this week.
Luke Beckett is not a happy man.........
Play Me Or I Am Off - Luke Beckett
He is, in my opinion, as good a goalscorer we have, but the service he has received when he has played this season has been nothing short of appalling. He is not Boothy, so why lump balls up head high ffs. I hope he stays, but you cannot blame him for this ultimatum.

Boothy saved my Christmas blushes, but the way Town played today they deserved nothing. A disappointingly low crowd of less than 10,000 saw a typical Town performance - lacklustre, outplayed (against a team who hadn't scored in nearly 6 hours of football and had been thrashed 0-4 at home last Saturday).
Lee Barnard (Tottenham loanee who found the net during our defeat at their in September) opened the scoring in the 19th minute, a ball over the top that he ran onto (he was a mile offside I'm told, although I have yet to see it) played over Matt Glennon.
Crewe never really looked like getting another, but looked comfortable all the same (despite Town having more possession). Jevons, Collins and Schofield all with chances for Town, but at half time we were still behind.
Andy Ritchie stubbornly refused to change things, despite Towns woeful (at times) play. Ronnie Wallwork had a poor afternoon by his standards and Malvin Kamara was anonymous.
It was 5 minutes from the end when the undeserved leveller came. Jevons with the corner, met by the head of Andy Booth, scoring with his trademark header.
Another home match on Saturday, Northampton.

Back to work, so sadly not in attendance (knew I wouldn't be as soon as the fixtures came out - curses). Three points against the Railway Rubbish will do nicely (bragging rights are everything you know)!!

Merry Christmas one and all!!
Good news - Phil Jevons is staying a bit longer yet..............
Jevons Extends Loan Spell
....and some more interesting news (although not from the most reliable of sites)
Brando In Frame For Crewe Return
The shouts that he is going in January are getting too loud for my ears, ok he will move on some day of course, just not yet I rather hope. Still think he is one of our best players, why get rid?

Away action today, with a trip down to Cheltenham. Now, of course, we have never won down there, so if we get a point I will be happy!! You never know!
****
With our match against Crewe on Boxing Day on the horizon, I have declared (under the influence of alcohol admittedly) that if we win (I expect nothing else) that I will turn up at the club that night in my Town shirt!! Should silence a few of the locals if nothing else..........

Towns latest balance sheet is revealed - and it doesn't make great reading.........
Town - £1,000,000 Loss
Ken Davy Speaks
Obviously, things like our lowly league position and our 1st round losses in all cup competitions play a part as do a higher wage bill, but it is good news that the former player debts are now clear.

Who says people power does not work!! One month after it was scrapped, The Examiner Messageboard has been reinstated!! I'm glad, as their forum was a poor substitute, and the Messageboard was always a good read. A good decision.

Town managed to get back on track with 3 points against Bristol Rovers at a freezing Galpharm. Robbie Williams made his home debut, and Andy Booth was making his 350th appearance for Town.
In front after quarter of an hour, Ronnie Wallwork found the net with a 25 yarder that took a wicked deflection (they all count) after Bristol failed to clear. And it stayed that way at half time.
The equaliser came when Town typically failed to deal with a cross, Joe Jacobson doing the honours (against the run of play completely).
Town were not to be denied a few minutes later when Phil Jevons scored his 3rd goal in 2 games. A long throw in from Nathan Clarke, Boothy with the flick-on and Jevons with some lovely foot movement to steer it home. A welcome 3 points.
****
I have mentioned on here in the past how my husband gets a bit hacked off when we go to our local social club because I get "..mitherers.." (his words) wanting to know how Town have got on / talk football. He said last night took the biscuit, because he went down there on his own (I was working late) and three people told him that we had won before he had even got his coat off!! Yesterdays result puts us above Crewe in the table again (not a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but worth a few brownie points in my neck of the woods)!

Sam has asked me what I want for Christmas. I said that a ticket for the Birmingham match would be nice - so he now thinks that is all I want, what a cheapskate!! What I know (and he doesn't) is that my mobile phone is on its last legs and wants replacing............

Worthy - I Am ready For Action
What we would have given for him to be fully fit last Saturday, pity I cannot make Saturdays match (pesky work) as him and Ronnie Wallwork in midfield will be something special.

The largest 3rd division crowd in 25 years saw, in all honesty in the end, a rout. Based on Towns first half performance you could not have envisaged this outcome. Chances for Schofield, Kamara and Booth squandered, but Leeds went in front with the only shot they had on target in the first half, Jonathan Douglas' 35 yard effort beating an unsighted Alex Smithies.
Even at half time I still thought we were in it, but goals change games they say, and Town conceded a second when Jermaine Beckford scored. Downhill all the way after that, Beckford with his second and Tore Andre Flo completing a nightmare scenario.
The better team in the end has won (it grieves me to say this), but whether we were 4 goals inferior (particularly after the way we played in parts) is debatable, but with conceding 8 and scoring just the 1 in two games doesn't look good does it, and I'm embarrassed.

Half-Time: Leeds 1-0 Town
We are clearly having the best of this, chances for Schofield, Jevons and Kamara, but we still find ourselves behind - completely against the run of play and no question.
Could still get something here........ COME ON TOWN!!!!!!

Just over 2 hours to the big kick off - I am getting excited now!! Can we do it? Will Alex Smithies get a dream debut (wonder whats going through his mind right now)? You cannot blame me for being not too confident obviously, but thinking back to when we played Bradford at VP last season, no one gave us any chance there and we won. Might be just down to one goal? Jevons maybe, or Kamara?
Cannot wait regardless!!

Apologies that yesterdays posting was a bit brief and not of my usual standard - news of Glennons unsuccessful appeal came through just as I was due to leave the house for the railway station (went to Manchester Apollo to see Squeeze, they were absolutely fantastic btw), so it was a bit rushed!!

AR on Southend v Town

This is not the thrashing it looks believe me. The game completely turned on one incident - Matt Glennons dodgy sending off in the second half. Town had managed to get back into the match at 2-1 when a challenge in which it didn't look like a) a goalscoring chance and b) any contact, made no difference to the referee and a straight red it was (I hope we appeal).
Town went behind in the 3rd minute when Leon Clarke scored with Uniteds first attack, and were 2 down after the 57th minute when McCormack doubled Southends lead.
A chink of light with 20 minutes to go with a Danny Schofield effort gave us hope, but it was referee Mike Thorpe who effectively extinguished any real chance. Alex Smithies entered for his Town debut.
More woe was to follow as we conceded a third in the 84th minute, and an eventful 5 minutes added time saw a 4th Southend goal and a sending off for Frank Sinclair (deserved by all accounts).
A night to forget, and I for one cannot see any Leeds fans losing sleep over this result ahead of Saturday.

Half Time: Southend 1-0 Town
Town behind in the 3rd minute thanks to Leon Clark, but been looking lively in the main. Southend not without other chances, Matt Glennon keeping us in it. 1-0 it is though (Town in orange).

Wednesday night action for Town, with a long trip down to Southend. There are a number of Terriers in the South so we may get a fair turnout (more than Swansea I mean). I am confident again, Jevons looks quality and I suspect his goal (or goals) will see us home. 1-0 or 2-0 Town, get us going the right way for Saturday!!!

Down At The Mac is dead - long live All New Down At The Mac!! Rivals have sold out to Sky, made a complete and utter horlicks of the new site (it is awful, completely unreadable, difficult to work, just dreadful), so it is with thanks to MancTerrier we DATM members have got a new, proper site away from Murdochs monstrosity, and the link in the sidebar has been amended accordingly.

Its Birmingham then! Well, nice - the cup draw brings us a Premiership team at home, with all the assorted benefits - big crowd, good money - and a bloody good chance of winning. Shame that nob-head isn't their Manager any more, would have enjoyed venting my anger at him, but never mind. I only hope I can get a ticket, I am off that weekend (unless it is shifted for the telly, you never know).

I only wish I'd had money on my hunch!!!!!!!
Three second half goals, 2 from Phil Jevons (thereby justifying his pleading to Gary Johnson earlier in the week to be allowed to play) and a Luke Beckett effort near the end plenty enough to see off Grimsby and get Town into the bag with the Big Boys tomorrow afternoon.
Jevons and a returning Andy Booth started upfront for Town and Robbie Williams made it onto the bench (but not the pitch). Honours even at half-time, but Town simply steamrolled past their opponents in the second half, to become ball number 58 in the draw (can't wait).

FA Cup time again, and I think it is safe to say we owe Grimsby one after our ignominious exit at their hands in the JPT. A good result is due! I'm confident we can get through this first time of asking, and got a good feeling we may do this comfortably (dangerous talk I know). I'm going for a 3-0 Terriers victory!
