Huddersfield Town 1-2 Northampton Town

1 point from a possible 6 off 2 supposedly winnable home games against supposedly lower lights - not good is it. Town hit the self destruct button yet again at a gloomy day at the Galpharm.

It could have all been so different had Town kept their first half performance going - they made the most of the appalling conditions to start with - and went ahead in the final minute of the first half. Boothy yet again headed home unmarked.

Jekyll and Hyde? You bet. No idea what AR said at half time, but Town came out a different outfit. defending deep, inviting Northampton on, total garbage; maybe this out come was inevitable.

With 15 minutes to go the equaliser came courtesy of Poul Hubertz. this prompted AR to make his only sub of the game (and Jacko used to get moaned at for his tactics ref substitutions ffs, this is just as bad if not worse), Scoffer off and Worthy on (what has Chris Brandon got to do to get a game, I despair).

The winner came with 5 minutes to go. A long ball up field from the Northampton keeper found the head of Hubertz, the ball found its way to Kirk who whipped a cross in for Jason Crowe to stab home at the back post. Rubbish. And in my opinion Andy Ritchie is being found out big time.

Do things get any worse? Well, in other news, it can do - this makes our woes pale into insignificance.

Phil O'Donnell - 1972-2007

Motherwell captain Phil O'Donnell collapsed and died on the pitch during their game with Dundee United yesterday. He was 35, same age as me. Awful that things like this should happen, utterly tragic. The hearts of football fans everywhere go out to his wife and young family.

Andy Booth remembers a personal friend.
