Southend United 4-1 Huddersfield Town

This is not the thrashing it looks believe me. The game completely turned on one incident - Matt Glennons dodgy sending off in the second half. Town had managed to get back into the match at 2-1 when a challenge in which it didn't look like a) a goalscoring chance and b) any contact, made no difference to the referee and a straight red it was (I hope we appeal).

Town went behind in the 3rd minute when Leon Clarke scored with Uniteds first attack, and were 2 down after the 57th minute when McCormack doubled Southends lead.

A chink of light with 20 minutes to go with a Danny Schofield effort gave us hope, but it was referee Mike Thorpe who effectively extinguished any real chance. Alex Smithies entered for his Town debut.

More woe was to follow as we conceded a third in the 84th minute, and an eventful 5 minutes added time saw a 4th Southend goal and a sending off for Frank Sinclair (deserved by all accounts).

A night to forget, and I for one cannot see any Leeds fans losing sleep over this result ahead of Saturday.
