Been a bit quiet on the New Manager front of late, but I sense an announcement shortly. Last home game of the season this Saturday against Walsall, so surely the new man will be revealed beforehand. Longer it goes on I really cannot see past Martin Allen. I have been told it is between Allen and A N Other (who I will not reveal on here, I'm not betraying a confidence), my source is impeccable as ever.

Despite all the nonsense rumours of Alan Shearer (spare us all if it happens, I'd give him 'til Christmas), and the more credible rumours flying about, I still think Martin Allen will get the nod, I honestly do. Not just because he has been my choice from day 1 (even though he has been of course), but I do not think I have seen anyone work so hard to get appointed ever, turning up not just for 1st team games but for reserve and under-18 matches too (should be appointed on that reason alone).

If ever Dean Hoyles "...crawl over broken glass to get to Huddersfield..." analogy was to be true my money would be on Martin Allen to do just that.
