Port Vale 0-0 Huddersfield Town

Our first goalless draw of the season was enough to relegate Vale (getting our own back for them sending us down with that awful 5-1 drubbing that time, one of my worst memories as a supporter), in not the most entertaining match you will ever see if I am being honest.

A fairly non-descript first half, Matt Glennon only had one save to make as the rest of the time he was untroubled by some woeful Vale finishing. Not that it was any better for us either, with no real first half chances (Boothy going close with a header that the keeper caught easily).

Town had enough chances in the second half to win, Chris Brandon had a goal incorrectly ruled out for offside. Nathan Clarke finding Brando who tapped in (never offside in a million years, Vale had players on the post), the lineswoman (yes you have read that right) getting the full wrath of Rob Page in particular for getting that decision totally wrong.

Other chances for Andy Booth and Andy Holdsworth, both skyed over the crossbar, plus some wayward finishing from James Berrett and that was it.

Uninspiring Third Division fare I think you can call it!!

*****

Arrived home to hear some very sad news. Former Town Chairman Malcolm Asquith has passed away after a long illness. Town through and through, a gentleman who will be sadly missed.

Condolences to his family.
