The rumour mill has been on overdrive, predictably, with a few names mentioned in particular. Martin Allen has been quoted (his response to a leading question naturally, don't miss a trick these hacks) as being interested.

More worryingly (in my opinion) is the whisper of the name Shearer, Alan not Duncan! As much chance of the latter than the former getting the job. All those who think employing Newcastles favourite son is a good idea are sold on the "...good publicity..", "...bums on seats...", "...well connected.." angle. Not me. He has no experience in Management, and although I agree everyone must start somewhere this cannot happen. The amount of good players who were rubbish managers - Malcolm McDonald anyone - it's a laughable concept.

Realistically, I think I believe the rumour that the shortlist has already been made. Haven't heard anything from the club to suggest they are advertising like last time. If the Graham Leslie takeover talk becomes reality, then Chris Hutchings is a shoe-in. Wouldn't be my choice, but if as a package that ousts Ken Davy I could live with it.
If left to me, I would give Martin Allen a go, tells it like it is, takes no crap Warnock style, a quality in fact I like! Certain players are in need of a kick up the arse right now, he would provide it.
Over to you Ken Davy, and as last time several thousand season tickets are riding on the outcome of this.
