Kiegan Parker is happy to be the first to join the Ternent Revolution!!

Parker Becomes First Signing

I'm quietly pleased that we managed to see off clubs at a higher level than us to capture his signature. Hopefully a few more signings to come shortly.

Elsewhere, Chris Brandon is in talks with Bradford.

Brandon Holds City Talks

Curses. Why didn't Stan keep him on, groan!!

From the "Good News" file, it was heartwarming to see Jacko on the last-ever Soccer Night yesterday. He was really looking well, his voice not toally back yet of course, but he did look well.

I still miss him............

At last, a signing (although I cannot be the only person who thinks anyone who has been up-close-and-personal with Jade Goody should not be allowed within a million miles of The Galpharm, however Stan thinks differently).

Keigan Parker Signs 2 Year Deal

Keigan Parker - Profile

Despite the dubious company he kept at one time, he is a decent player and I'm not disappointed to see him join, particularly for free and in the face of competition of other clubs, Championship and League One.

And for one week only the £100 Season Ticket deal is back.

Second Chance For Season Tickets

It doesn't say so in the article, but this is to be backed up with local TV advertising campaign as well, with ITV Sports Football-Commentator-In-Chief Clive Tyldesley providing the voiceover (I'm a fan of his of many years standing, so delighted to hear this).

Dean Hoyle cannot wait for the new season to start (he's not the only one).

Hoyle: We Will Attract New Fans

Tuesday, May 20, 2008

It has been a tad quiet on the signings front, Stan says we must be patient and it is unlikely that anyone will be coming in before the Season Ticket deadline on Friday.

Ternent - I Wont Be Rushed

Faur enough. The money is there when he wants it, and I'm sure he has targets in mind. We must wait!!

A heartwarming story from the Official Site. Three cheers for Bob McNab.

Ex Town Player In Season Ticket Gesture

Friday, May 16, 2008

Stan Ternent has been able to do what Jacko and Andy Ritchie were unable to do - bring in his own coach!!

Coach Docherty Joins Town

It was always a grievance with me that PJ was never allowed to adequately replace Taff with someone of his own choosing. It was the start of his downfall. No I'm not saying we would have fared any better had AR brought in say Rick Holden, but we will never know. Grossly unfair that the two previous Town managers were saddled with John Dungworth, as the proof is there. we achieved nothing. This, however, is definitely a step in the right direction, a good move.

Thanks to the hard work and enterprise of several Town fans (young Andy Williams in particular) there is a new Town Fanzine on the block. And excellent reading it makes as well.

Blue 'n' White - The Fanzine

Congratulations to all involved.

The last of the 4 first team players offered contracts has finally signed.

Berrett Signs New Deal

In other news I hear a whisper that Jon Stead is about to be released by Sheffield United. Is a return on the cards?? I for one would gladly take him back. Suspect wages might be a problem though, but with it being Town maybe he would adjust his demands??

I also hear that a big announcement is going to be made sometime this week. A big signing? Who knows. No coincidence that the cheap season ticket deal runs out in 10 days time.....

Many happy returns to our new Assistant Manager, and hero to me in his playing days, Rocket Ron!!

Jepson: 45 Years Young Today

Luke Beckett hasn't gone to Bradford yet, Stuart McCall is unhappy at Towns handling of the episode.

McCall: Town Should Have Said Nothing

For what it's worth I still think this deal will go through (curses), and I suppose if we get money as well it wont be all bad. I'd Rather he wasn't being sold at all, LB is a decent striker with the right service, something he was woefully short of last season. He was still our top scorer for all that though.

Joe Skarz signs his new deal.

Joe Skarz Signs 3 year Contract

Again, as with MG yesterday a very good move by Stan. "Young" Joe is definately a star of the future in my opinion, and I'm glad he's pledged the next 3 years to Town.

Busy day for news today, and forgive me for nearly fainting on reading this headline........

Booty Leaves

No, I'm not shedding any tears at Martyns departure, it's just I thought I saw the headline "Boothy Leaves"........ I don't suppose I was the only one nearly caught out!! (By the way, I hope Martyn gets fixed up soon as I've always liked him, I go back as far as his days at Crewe Alexandra many many moons ago).

Also........

Beckett Talks To Bradford

The Official Site backing up the earlier rumour.

And the best news of all today.........

Glennon - I Knew I'd Be Staying

MG would be so hard to replace at the moment, there is no-one better between the sticks at this level, no-one at all. Nice work Stan.

The first of our released players finds a new home.

Danny Schofield Signs For Yeovil

He is one player assured a warm welcome when returning with The Glovers to The Galpharm next season.

A worrying rumour reaches me. Luke Beckett signing for Bradford. Lets hope that does not turn out to be true!

Farewell Frank

The retained list is finally announced as promised, with only Matt Glennon, Joe Skarz, James Berrett and Andy Booth (who has already signed of course) out of the out-of-contract players offered new deals.

The released list has no surprises on it.

Goodbye and Good Luck Chris, Frank, Danny, Matty et al

Well, a few of the major wage-earners are off, freeing up needed funds. still gutted that CB is going, but as I have already said I had readied myself for the worst. I'll miss him (although I don't expect universal backing for that statement).

The retained list is due out today, but there is some news already (albeit from a personal view unwelcome but not altogether unexpected).

Brandon Released - Next Stop Bradford

Don't know whats worse. Stan getting rid without seeing him play (he has been injured lets not forget, though I'm guessing Ronnie would know the sort of player Chris is) or the fact he could end up at Bradford.

Gutted. Things have to improve, because Stan has done nothing at all to win me over yet. Ok, lets see the calibre of player he brings in as replacements over the summer before he totally loses my backing, but I'm not impressed so far.

Look at the Page situation. It's easy to say that Rob made his mind up to go weeks ago, but what sort of an offer did Stan make him to stay? It might have been a an insult for all we know.

I'm distinctly miffed at present, and wait interestedly to see who goes out of the exit next.

Luton Town 0-1 Huddersfield Town

Typical end of season fare with Town continuing their impressive finish to the campaign with 3 well deserved points against already relegated Luton.

The winner came from Phil Jevons in the 77th minute. Jevons, a second half substitute for James Berrett, headed home from a well placed Joe Skarz cross.

Nice work lads, and congratulations Gerry Murphy. To steer Town to 10th in the division after we were going nowhere in the Ritchie era is amazing. That rainy day in Oldham seems light years away!!

Gerry Murphy on Luton v Town

***

Rob Page has definitely gone, but it looks like Stan wanted him to stay.

Page Gone But We Move On - Ternent

Why Chesterfield?? Surely can't be money as I cannot believe they would or would be able to offer more money and better terms. Fine, if he didn't want to play for Town for whatever reason then as Stan says we have to move on.

Friday, May 2, 2008

From the Official Site some disappointing news.

Page On Way Out

Shame this. Seems like he had already made his mind up he was going. If this is the case then it will have to be Stans priority to get a decent centre half.

One day to the last match of yet another underwhelming season!! We are away at already relegated Luton, come on lads lets end the season in style!! Gerry Murphy remains in charge.

Gerry Murphy - One Last Push

Have heard various rumours about next seasons retained list. Seems that I could be losing my favourite player Chris Brandon, but I'll wait to hear officially. Danny Racchi has confirmed via his Facebook page that he is off (shame, an underachiever here) and Matty Young is also rumoured to be departing (no surprise there). Apparently Tuesday is when Stan makes the official announcement. he wants to keep Matt Glennon though (good).

Glennon Deal On Agenda - Ternent
