Non-Town, but a little disappointing to hear....

Brandon In Injury Scare (BCFC Official Site)

Shame, would have liked to see him returning against us in the Cup (as long as he didn't score of course).

I also hear rumours of yet another signing before Friday - though I suspect it is likely to be one of the trialists (Paul Gerrard I imagine), although another rumour suggests we are being linked with a Sheffield Wednesday front man, probably Leon Clarke (but not Akpo Sodje / Francis Jeffers one would hope).

It's official, Gary Roberts signs (Town cement their position as "Kings Of The Undisclosed Fee" in the process).

Roberts Signs For Town (Official Site)

The most interesting part of what the gaffer says in that article is the fact he could be after as many as 5 or 6 more players. Does this mean players could be on the way out? Surely a big squad at our level would be unsustainable, so exits could be on the agenda.

Yet another triallist arrives as well.

David Unsworth Trials (Official Site)

Not sure I would want him and Lucketti in the same back four to be honest, even though his experience would be a nice touch. Blimey, with him, Chris L, Cads and Boothy in the same team we would look like the Rest-Home-For-Veteran-Footballers!!!!!!

Excitement in my house last week, my season ticket finally arrived!!!! Predictably the rest of my family fail to understand my joy! Thanks to the ticket office for putting a car-window sticker in the envelope - it now proudly adorns the side window of my Fiesta (Sam says he would rather walk now, or else he would have to invest in a disguise when travelling with me, charming).

A week on Saturday, it will soon be here!!!!

Back online at long, long last (courtesy of work, still got problems at home - hint: do not deal with BT, their customer service is appauling).

Time to catch up.......

Hartlepool Tournament Match 2

Hartlepool United 1-0 Huddersfield Town

Hartlepool v Town Match Report (Official Site)

The final match of the Hartlepool Tournament ends in defeat again. Despite chances for Luke Beckett and Phil Jevons, and a penalty claim waved away, Joel Porters 62nd minute effort was enough to take the spoils.

Stan is far from happy (and no wonder)

Stan Ternent on Hartlepool v Town (Official Site)

24 hours on from that defeat, and Stan is still fuming.

Gaffer: Play Up or Clear Off

After reading his biography recently, nothing that man says surprises me!!

Hartlepool Tournament Match 1

Hamilton Accies 2-1 Town

Hamilton v Town Match Report (Official Site)

The first match of the Hartlepool Tournament ends in disappointing style, with a defeat to Hamilton. Pleanty of first teamers in action, with Butler, Lucketti and N Clarke in defence. Town first to score, an Andy Booth effort five minutes into the second half.

The goal was cancelled out 10 minutes later by James McArthur, and the Accies were in front 2 minutes after that with a goal from Simon Mensing.

Town now play Hartlepool.

A new signing (perhaps).

Town Bid For Roberts (Official Site)

Ipswich Receive Roberts Bid (BBC Sport)

If he does sign I will pick the brains of the Crewe suppoters, assess if he's any good (however the last player they told me was any good was Andy Taylor, so their judgement isn't all that reliable).

A new signing (confirmed)

Flynn Signs For Town (Official Site)

The number 10 shirt is now occupied!! Sounds promising, worked with Stan and Ronnie before which has got to be good. Sounds like an excellent bit of work chaps!!!

AFC Emley 0-8 Huddersfield Town

Emley v Town Match Report (Official Site)

A nice stroll in the park for the Town lads, AFC Emley no match for the Super Stripes!!!

Nathan Clarke (2), James Berrett, Phil Jevons (2), Andy Butler, Keigan Parker, Robbie Williams all on the scoresheet. Happy days!!

Just to let you all know, I have not disappeared off the face of the earth. PC problems (which have occured while i have been off work so i have not been able to use their facilities) have meant this is the only time i have been able to get to a computer all week. News of our vistory at Emley was a nice surprise.

Sorry this is brief but this is my sisters computer and I can only use it for 5 minutes. Normal service will be resumed shortly.

Bury 1-1 Huddersfield Town

Not the all singing and dancing start everyone was hoping for. Town behind after 71 minutes, one time Town triallist Phil Marsh capitalising on a fumble from current Town triallist Paul Gerrard and making no mistake.

Town not to be denied. Daniel Codman struck with 8 minutes to go, fed through by Phil Jevons and placing past the advancing keeper.

First friendly is upon us, and I have to work (groan). Mind you, the weather has been quite foul down here so maybe I am better off inside!!

Lets hope for a good positive start and a few goals - Up The Town!!!

Danny Cadamateri makes a plea to Towns manager.

Cadders: Pick Me Stan

I'm prepared to give DC one more chance. When he went AWOL around Christmas (as fans of other clubs advised us he would) I was cross. He's not going to be on small wages, was becoming a waste of resources. If he has been working as hard as claimed then lets hope he shows the ability we know he's got. Could be a very important player for us this season.

Jim Goodwin believes the Town fans will be pivotal to morale this season,

Fans Can Be Twelfth Man/

I cannot wait for the first day of the season!!!!!

First friendly for Town is this Saturday away at Bury. Wish I could be there, quite fancied the idea of throwing Luke in the car and travelling up. Work forces my absence though. Been looking in advance to when I have got Saturdays off, and it is looking promising. In September it is highly likely that I am going to be at the home game against Tranmere.

I'm going to make a prediction (whisper this quietly folks) - I think we will be top by then!

If anyone hasn't had the opportunity to read Stan Ternants biography yet, you must do so at the earliest possible moment. I have a copy in my possession and I can barely put it down - what a read!!! I am left wondering though if we have employed a Manager or a Mad Man. When you read the book you will know exactly what I mean by that!!

The Card Factory takes a scalp in Crewe town centre. A small card outlet that also specialised in reasonably priced greeting cards closed its doors recently despite successfully plying it's trade in the wake of more up-market brands such as Clintons and Birthdays. Card Factory Crewe branch is going from strength to strength however. The only shop I know that has 2 till girls on and there is still a long queue (was in there purchasing a friends birthday card yesterday) - imagine what it will be like in there come December........

Matty Young finds a new club, Harrogate.

Young Signs For Harrogate

Not a player I ever rated highly, however I did think he could maybe do a job for a League 2 club, so slightly surprised he's ended up in non-league instead. Best of luck to him!

Stan announces our new captain for next season - no surprises.

Lucketti Is New Town Skipper

Good choice. Here Chris gives his first interview.

It's Good To Be Back

And finally, the lads are back for pre-season training.

The Boys Are Back At Town

I suspect the lack of a number 10 means at least one more signing!!

Chris Lucketti it is then!!!!! I'm delighted.

Lucketti Returns To Town - 2 Year Deal

Will do the job that Rob Page vacated with ease, probably better. Might have to get my betting boots on before the value has gone. Towns price is just going to shorten and shorten and shorten.

Thursday, July 3, 2008

Hot on the heels of our last signing, another arrives tomorrow (subject to a medical). Various rumours bandied about, Chris Luckettis name mentioned a lot (if it's him I knew weeks ago), but dare I hope it's somone else..... just a theory!

I'm not going to lie to you, if it is Jon Stead (I don't know, I'm merely suggesting) that would be fantastic. I shall hardly sleep tonight the suspense is killing me.

COME ON TOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Party time on ATT - today is our 2nd Birthday!! Doesn't time fly. A quick thank you to all who call this way, your support is appreciated!!

A few, erm, highlights (if you can call them that) from the last 12 months.

I have far too much time on my hands today....................

No surprises with our 3rd signing, as predicted it is Andy Butler, a centre half who like Jim Goodwin has jumped ship from Scunthorpe.

Butler Signs

Like Jim though, I don't know a great deal about this guy, but them who do reckon he's quality. That'll do for me. We need somone who can put Mirf and N Clarke in their place.

Butler: Town Ready Made For Championship

Tuesday, July 1, 2008

Good news. A third signing, and all will be revealed at 8am tomorrow.

Stan Signs Another

An interesting interview with Jim Goodwin. Of just as much interest, the comments of the Scunny fans at the bottom of the page. Glad to see some of them are more than a little unhappy at having to face their former player (or players....) in our colours!

Jim Goodwin Interview - Sports Scunthorpe

I'm a little dismayed that he thinks that playing Scunthorpe in the play-off final would be good. I was rather hoping we could be promoted as Champions, or at the least without any play-off hassle this season! it does sound like Andy Butler is signing as well, no official news on that yet.

Another innovation from the Sean Jarvis school of ideas...........

Eye catching, and a different approach. I like it!!!

Roll on the new season!!!!!!
