In response to the spoof news report below, I thought I could do some meddling of my own...

If I Can Dream For A Moment.....

I live in hope!!

****

Travelling over tomorrow for the game against Crewe. Cannot wait. It's ages since we beat them and 3 points will be good currency for me in these parts tee hee!!

Stans pre match interview is a good listen.

Ternent - Pressure Is On

SHOCK NEWS!!!

Ternent Gone - or maybe not......

We can wish. Many thanks to a DATM contributor for momentarily making my day!

***

Been hearing more rumours about Stans attitude to players and staff alike, and it is not good. Although I stress these are only rumours (albeit from a very trusted source), I don't like it one bit.

Obviously I want us to beat Crewe on Saturday, but aware that would probably buy Stan more time. He's showing himself to be the poor appointment I said he was all along, and how much more patience Dean Hoyle can have, well you have to wonder.

Coca Cola League Division One

Huddersfield Town 0-0 Yeovil Town

A shivering Galpharm saw not the worst stalemate ever. What chances there were all fell to us, but the Yeovil keeper put in a man-of-the-match performance to keep shots from Liam Dickinson, Ian Craney, Nathan Clarke, Jon Worthington and Gary Roberts at bay. Danny Schofield appeared for Yeovil, but it was a least half an hour before I realised he was playing!!

Yeovil offered very little in return. On a good night Towns numerous efforts would have gone in, one of those nights.

***

One thing last nights game said to me was that we will not be going anywhere this season - we are not good enough. We will beat the strugglers, draw against the moderate sides and get thrashed by the better teams. Our season is going nowhere.

A few people in the DG Lower near me made their feelings known at full time, by making there way over to the dugouts hurling abuse at Stan and Ronnie. How much longer can Dean Hoyles patience hold out? Lets see what Saturday brings is probably what our Chairman-in-Waiting will say.

****

I have just about thawed out from last night, Christ it was cold. To add insult to injury I had to defrost my car when I got back to Crewe, so cold was it!! And while we are on the subject, my husband has stuck a curfew on night visits for now (bah). It has been a few seasons since I have travelled over for night matches, but increased hassle with trains (getting back after 12 most times) curtailed this practice of late. However, with a shiny new season ticket to use, and the fact I cannot always make a Saturday I made this trip (and for the Sheff U game).

Train problems resurfaced though, getting back from the Sheff United game was a doddle, straight off one train at Manchester, straight on one back to Crewe - back home just after 11, perfect. Not last night, even though the first train got back to Manchester okay I was horrified to see my connection heading out at the same time from the next platform along - missed it by 1 minute, meaning an hour wait for the next one, and the return to the after-midnight arrivals. I accept him being unhappy and the resons why. This was why I stopped coming over on a Tuesday night in the first place. Not sure what I'm going to do if this comes up again this season!

Coca Cola League Division One

Peterborough United 4-0 Huddersfield Town

I did say this would happen. A performance every bit as bad as Oldham away last season, the match that saw Ritchie off, maybe this is the match that sees Stan off - we can only hope.

One way traffic of the highest order (the 949 who travelled have my sympathy), Aaron McClean on 12 minutes, George Boyd on 24 minutes, Chris Whelpdale on 55 minutes, and McCleans second on 64 minutes sinking us. Utter rubbish.

Chris Luckettis sending off right on full time compounding the misery.

Stans comments, and in parts they begger belief...

Stan Ternent on Peterborough v Town

Dean Hoyle MUST act. He knows he must. We are going absolutely nowhere with this dinosaur Ternent in charge, and something must be done.

Wins against Yeovil and Crewe (assuming DH / KD don't do anything) will buy him a little time, but how much should he get. Not one say more, not one penny more. I am angered that good money has gone to waste on average players, and we as supporters deserve better.

It's our centenary and we are going down the pan fast here. It would be an outrage if we were to be in a relegation dogfight this season, and if Dean Hoyle can be persuaded to cut his losses, and get in someone young and dynamic with fresh ideas, then we may just salvage something this season before it is too late.

Away tomorrow with a trip to newly promoted Peterborough. I'll tell you here and now, I expect NOTHING from tomorrow. Got an awful feeling we are going to be thumped, just hope I am wrong. Cannot see it though.

A kindly correspondent informs me that time is running out for Stan, that he has tomorrow, Tuesday against Yeovil, and the Saturday after against Crewe (I will be over for both those home games by the way) to bring home 9 points (or at the very least 7) or it could well be curtains.

Thursday, October 23, 2008

I'm another year older today (though many a day feel like 136 never mind 36).

Town news, Tom Clarke has gone out on loan to our hated neighbours Bradford...

T Clarke In Loan Move

...and Liam Dickinson is staying another month.

Dickinson Loan Deal Extended

Wednesday, October 22, 2008

I'm a bit calmer today then I was last night. I'm still not happy and want Stan gone though, it would be better all round if DH cut his losses and got rid.

I don't buy into the "..Stan will sort it out.." rubbish. With more money to spend (and still claiming we need more players) than the last 3 managers put together, and Roberts and Flynn aside bought average players no better then we had; if I were Dean Hoyle I would not give that man so much as another bean. He cannot be trusted with the clubs money that is obvious.

For the cynical, I would have still been of this opinion if we had won. Ternent has always been a poor appointment in my eyes, I did not want him at the club for footballing reasons and having read his book did not want him for personal reasons either!!!

I hope we can turn it around, of course I do. Onwards to Peterborough, lets hope we can finally start to get it right.

Coca Cola League Division One

Hartlepool United 5-3 Huddersfield Town

Thought it was unbelievable at half time, this scoreline is even more unbelieveable. Town 3-2 to the good at the break, two free kicks from Liam Dickenson (he hit the post with another one) and an Ian Craney effort, goals from Kevin Kyle (despite the best efforts of N Clarke on the line) and James Brown keeping the home side in it at the break.

With 10 minutes left it looked like the second half would remail goal-less and we would get 3 needed points, but as you might expect thigs never go our way. The linesman gave a penalty (harshly according to the radio) against Joe Skarz, and that was the turning point. Joel Porter sank the spot kick, and Hartlepool had their tails up.

Within 2 minutes they were in front, Kevin Kyle bagged his second of the night, rising above Andy Butler and Joe Skarz to head powerfully home.

The woe was not to end there, when Joel Porter wrapped up the proceedings with a tap into an empty net after dancing round an out-rushing Matt Glennon.

I am completely shell shocked.

Half Time

Hartlepool 2-3 Town

Unbelieveable. Liam Dickinson with 2 "..pearling.." ((c) P Ogden) free kicks, and Ian Craney from Dickensons flick after a punt upfield from Matt Glennon. Twice Town have been pegged back, but we are in front at the break. Lovely stuff.

Inceidentally, Oggy has Lee Sinnott for company and not KoR.

UTT!!!

Tuesday night action with Town away at Hartlepool. The way we are playing at the moment it'll either be the easiest of wins, or a thumping defeat, we wait and see which Town side turn up!!

Am tuning into Oggy and Kieran, hoping for 3 points!!

Coca Cola League Division One

Huddersfield Town 1-1 Bristol Rovers

Typical third Division fare yesterday, some meaty tackles flying in, not many chances, a draw a fair result I would say.

Town in front early on, a trademark piledriver from Michael Flynn from just outside the box. Not too many Town chances after that, only Flynn again going close with a headed chance. A combination of woeful Rovers finishing and Matt Glennon (as our defence was awful) keeping Town in front at the break.

Bristol equalised just after half time, Joe Skarz (not for the first time) beaten for pace, the cross fell to Rickie Lambert, who scored one of the easiest goals he will ever score. Our defence non existant yet again.

Both Town and Rovers pushed for a winner, although it never looked likely as Liam Dickenson was dreadful yesterday - more concerned with manhandling the opposition centre half than winning the ball. A draw, as I said, a fair result.

Stan Ternent on Town v Bristol Rovers

****

Steve Jones got 90 minutes yesterday, which surprised me as I felt he would have made way at some point, but he impressed me yesterday with his endevour. He looked for all the world a natural-born-Town-player, as if he had been playing for us since forever. You can tell he's played at a higher level. I put this to a Crewe supporting pal last night. He nearly spat his beer out in derision "..you're f****** welcome to him hehehehe..", his considered reply.

Funny that, I always though he was highly regarded at Crewe, maybe not then.

Anyways, I though he played well yesterday, and think he will be a worthwhile short-term investment.

****

Who was responsible for the Man Of The Match award yesterday? Stevie Wonder!!! You would have thought so, when they announced that Jim Goodwin had got it - he was easily the worst player out there, no wonder he covered his face in shame. I didn't boo that decision though, although plenty around me in the DG Lower did. It's not his fault he was selected was it!!!!

Friday, October 17, 2008

A loan deal has been agreed, with Boothy out until new year it makes sense I suppose.

Steve Jones Loan Deal

Cleary our Stanley still has his finger in a pie or two down Burnley way.

Now as someone who lives in Crewe, and has family-and-friends-a-plenty who know this guy and what he can be capable of on the face of it we could do worse. However, he is over 30 and injury prone. To be honest, I though he still lived near me beacuse it's not that long since I saw him in our local Asda (earlier this year).

There are occasions when my beloved husband really should know better. Last night when watching "Big League Weekend 2" on Sky Sports, he was heard to comment during highlights of Lincoln v Rochdale "..I see that silly old bugger Jackson is up to no good again.." as footage of PJ being sent to the stands during that game from Friday night appeared. Sam had no idea I was in earshot, let alone right behind him, and his surprise as my handbag made contact with his head was all too evident!! Some people never learn.......

Dean Hoyle has every confidence in Stan. The audio is a good listen as well.

Coca Cola League One

Swindon Town 1-3 Huddersfield Town

Some welcome relief against a relatively poor Swindon side. We were in front in the 6th minute, with another goal from Liam Dickinson. From a corner, Andy Butler pulled the ball back for Dicko to slot home.

Then, possibly the turning point of the game. Andy Butler fouled Swindon midfielder Michael Timlin in the area to concede a penalty, but Matt Glennon was too good for Simon Cox, saving the resulting spot kick by guessing correctly that he would put it to the right.

Huddersfield two goals up not long after, Gary Roberts scoring an extraordinary goal. Glennons long punt upfield had the Swindon defenders on the hop as Robbo nipped in and scored on the volley straight from it!

All Huddersfield pretty much from that moment, and the three points were sealed in the second half, when Ian Craneys shot was cleared off the line, only to fall straight to Michael Flynn who didn't even take a touch as he volley home spectacularly from 20 yards into the top corner of the net.

Craig Easton scored a consolation for the home side with a couple of minutes left, however it was an afternoons work well done for our boys - lets hope this is the start of things to come.

Ronnie Jepson is delighted, and so he should be!

More good PR for Town with the news that the Pink Link Stand will be partially open to home supporters for the match against Yeovil.

Town Home End Initiative

Good move this, will undoubtably arouse a lot of interest, particularly amongst those who have been wanting this for some time.

Talking of Yeovil, that is one of 3 matches I shall be in attendance for in the near future, starting with Bristol Rovers on 18th Oct, Yeovil on the 28th and Crewe on the 1st November. Happy times ahead (I hope).

Tomorrow, the lads are away at Swindon, and ST (as ever) is bullish.

Stan Ternent on Swindon v Town (pre match - Official Site)

Nothing short of 3 points will do in my eyes after Tuesday, and at least with Robbo available that will boost cnfidence. We have every chance tomorrow.

Some more cheer from Tuesday night. Hot on the heels of refunds-all-round, Gary Roberts has had his red card rescinded.

No Ban For Robbo

My faith in the FA is restored!

Wednesday, October 8, 2008

A nice gesture from the club.

Statement From Ken Davy, Dean Hoyle & Stan Ternent

Money back for last nights fiasco, although strings attached (discount against a Leeds away ticket, and only then if you meet the ticketing criteria), but better than just an apology. Well done all.

Johnstones Paint Trophy Round 2

Darlington 1-0 Huddersfield Town

A lacklustre performance, by a team much butchered from Saturday (one Radio Leeds wag said we had a twelve year old in goal and a back 4 with a combined age of 141), meant an early exit for Town. The Darlington goal aside, the main talking point was Gary Roberts challenge on Ricky Ravenhill. Although the Town man won the ball, he also caught Ravenhill on the knee with his follow through, and even though no Darlington players angrily rounded on Robbo (indicating it was purely accidental), the referee showed him a red card.

The goal came on the stroke of half time from a free kick, centre half Alan White heading home.

Nearest Town came second half was when Andy Butler hit the bar with a header, but Town never looked a real threat at any stage, and Stan Ternent has some serious questions to answer before Swindon on Saturday - not least, who is going to replace our star man Gary Roberts?

****

There are a few more on the "Stan Out" bus after this, and I am not surprised in the slightest. For someone who claimed on Monday he was taking this cup seriously we saw precious little of that (although some would say the first 11 he put out was easily on a par with anything Andy Ritchie had at his disposal last season). How much longer are we going to have the same old excuses "..give him time..", he's not had long enough.." - nonsense, he's had plenty of time and anyone who says different must be on another planet.

Tuesday, October 7, 2008

Nearly kick off time, and I am pleased to say right now i am listening to on Pawel Abbot being interviewed by Oggy. Our friendly Pole Pav is on crutches at the moment with ankle ligament problems, and I sure I am not the only one who is quietly glad!!

Tuning into Kieran and Oggy, Stan has made 10 changes (despite saying he would put out his strongest side).

UTT!

Monday, October 6, 2008

Having watched the penalty incodent a few times, I'm still not convinced it warrented a penalty. A lot of refs would not have given it. Stan is putting it behind him and is looking forward to our Paint-Pot cup outing at Darlington tomorrow.

Handball? Never in a million years.

Coca Cola League Division One

Huddersfield Town 2-3 Leicester City

A spirited fightback by Town ended in vain, as an outrageous piece of fortune saw Leicester take all 3 points at a windswept Galpharm.

A first half with chances for both sides , Roberts and Dickenson going close for Town, Matty Fryatt for Leicester, but ultimately goaless.

Leicester broke the deadlock just after half time, that man Fryatt on the end of a good passing move, his shot just evading Matt Glennon. The lead was doubled when Jim Goodwins careless hand blocked a Leicester cross, and it was Fryatt once more who stepped up to put the penalty away.

Those who though Town were dead and buried at this point were thankfully wrong as Gary Roberts gave us a chink of light with his fourth goal of the season. The comeback was completed on 77 minutes when Liam Dickenson headed home Jim Goodwins cross powerfully.

An almighty fluke cost Town dear right on full time, Lloyd Dyer somehow managing to loop the ball over Matt Glennon while falling backwards at the same time. Town did not deserve this after an excellent performance.

Stan Ternent says the referee played a huge part in Towns defeat.

Saturday, October 4, 2008

Home action again, and I am nothing short of gutted not to be part of what will be our biggest crowd of the season so far without a doubt, as we take on table-topping Leicester (who are sure to bring a big following).

Have we any chance? Who knows, after last weeks optimistic result we could just nick something who knows. Expect this to be a low scoring affair, 1-0 Town (fingers crossed).

Thursday, October 2, 2008

Chris Lucketti is hoping to be fit for Saturday.

Lucketti Plays The Waiting Game

Point of order here. Just because he is the captain why should he walk back into the first team? Butler and N Clarke have been doing admirably in his absence (so I am told), particularly against Oldham - so why break the partnership up?

****

Can't make Saturdays game due to work (curses),will be mid-October before I'm over again. Will be at a few games though up until early November. Hopefully the recent revival will be continuing by then!
